Hybrid polyurethane

Has anyone here ever used or researched "hybrid polyurethanes'? A fellow I work with bought a lovely set of armor from a UK company that is made from this. I'd love to find out how it's made for a piece I'm working on.
It has a black base, is extremely durable, holds paint and has GREAT flexibility! The guy,,even though there are other distributors, is the only manufacturer of this armor..He developed it for the movie "Gladiator".
And there is nothing on the website about 'how it's made' (of course..)
All I can find, after research, is that it's the same styrenated-urethane/blk rubber filler mix as truck-bed-coating or artificial-concrete fillers...
I might have to get some small quantities of coatings & experiment..
Anyone else know about this stuff?
Thx, J.

But, take this into consideration...the Gladiator armor is falling apart, so it almost seems too brittle to boot

That would support the rubber filler thought then.. I wonder if one of the harder urethane rubbers from Smooth-On (or similar) would work just as well..
I'm trying to make an assortment of durable, but "soft-enough" weapons for a haunt,, plus just reseaching the same for asst. uses.. animatronic skins, prosthetic parts etc..
