Hulk Hogan passes away

aaaand there's number three.

RIP Hulk.

I just said the other night that I wondered who number three would be.

I know he had a lot of physical issues from the wear and tear or wrestling. I have to image that the upkeep for keeping that much muscle on for so long might wear on your heart (official cause was cardiac arrest).

When I was around 7 or 8 (so 84 or 85) my dad and his cousin and came in and said "We're going to go meet the Hulk". I was like "Awesome Hulk Hogan!" They were both amateur powerlifters and my dad's cousin knew some famous area body builder who knew Franco Columbu who knew... Long story short, they meant Lou Ferrigno. He had a schedule conflict so we never got to meet him.

Yeah, it's inherent with that industry.

Those guys are expected to stay the size of a full-time bodybuilder while also being a full-time touring athlete. The demands of the job are beyond what can be done without drugs. Steroids & painkillers are pretty much required.

But those guys seem to know the deal. Most pro athletes & performers are fanatically committed, and TV wrestlers are no exception.

I heard some stats when they were talking about Hogan on the radio today. There were 22 wrestlers in the first 1985 Wrestlemania, and now only 10 of them are still alive. The oldest Wrestlemania that still has a full survival rate is 2008. Geez.
That is insane… wow

The lack of love for Chuck Mangione around here is staggering...

No respect for the flugelhorn in this place.
I suppose it depends on who people recognize or even if they see the news? Not sure why but in my neck of the woods we miss a lot of news regarding the passing of these people unless they are like Ozzy or Elvis. I don't think I saw any tribute on here for Rick Hurst who played Cletus in Dukes of Hazzard? Might have missed it though. We have also lost Connie Francis, Cleo Laine among others lately, but young ones will say who? Dying in threes is just a myth and humans are pattern seeking creatures.
