How to make Cinderella's Castle?

Now that I have a 1/6 scale Tardis, my wife decided that I am able to build her a rather large version of Cinderella's Castle. And I am trying to come up with some ideas. I was considering pvc plumbing tubes for the round towers, but I don't think it will work for many reasons. I think the best way to go would be wood tubes. I do want to make it about 3' tall, at the highest point. I do want to go with wood tubes, and wood walls. Basically make it out of wood. Anybody know where I could find wood tubes that size? The would have to be about 18" tall or so.

If you look at the top of the towers, they actually look like upside down ice cream cones. I just need to find ones made of wood.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Does it have to be Tubes. if you buy yourself a wood lathe you could do it fairly easy.

Also if you look at the base of the tubes on the castle they are wider than the top. so a lathe would be perfect for this.

Ive never seen wood tubes, and would nt know where to look. but it is a cool project.

A wood lathe is a good idea.

Have you found any blueprints? If not then "Walt Disney Imagineering- A Behind the Dreams Look at Making the Magic Real" might be helpful.
That book has the front elevation blueprint in it.
I don't have a scanner but I could take photos of it for you ;)

Anyway good luck!

How about using a PVC tube as a form, and using a wood vineer. Wrap the PVC tube with a thin wood vineer, then a second layer with the seams on opposite sides and slide it off the PVC tube, and you'll have your wood tube.

That would work, but then how do you get the tappered look at the bottom. of the tube.

Plans of the castle are available if you google them.
I also remember reading on a Disney blog that the castle was built with a forced perspective design to make the towers look taller than they are.

True. All the stores on Main Street are that way too. Makes them look like three story buildings but they're not really that tall. If you were to build the castle to scale it might look funny, as the upper floors get shorter and shorter as you go up.

You could make cone shaped pieces to put on the bottom, and just use bondo to marry the two pieces together.

As for the forced perspective, yes, it is a lot smaller than it seems to be because they given a height restriction when building it as not to interfere with air traffic I believe...
