How obscure is too obscure and which one would look more badA$$-Death Race Costuming

So i have watched both deathrace movies the one with jason statham and the guy who played the lead kung fu. The character they play is the driver Frankenstien.

I am thinking about doing either or both of these costumes cause there kinda cool in a tacky sort of way.

Never even heard about Death Race untl today. The first one looks great in a retro kinda way.

Although I prefer the original, I'd suggest version number two to avoid being mistaken for the gimp from Pulp Fiction.

I do appreciate obscure tho.

That was exactly my reaction.

So it probably should be noted that at least two different people have already drawn similarities to gimp. Which means that everyone that approaches you on the street will say "look! It's the Gimp!"

I've only seen the older version. Judging from the pics i'd say the second looks the best.:thumbsup

definitely the second one...the first looks like a cross between Twiki and an S&M roleplayer.

I think a fair amount of people would miss the reference to the original Death Race, I only happened to catch the film a few months ago and it really was a bit weird.

Still, I think the original makes a better costume than the remake. Will it come with a David Carradine mask to go under the prosthetics to go under the mask?

"Chicken gang"...."Chicken in a basket!"...."Chicken in a casket!" God my friends and I used to watch that movie every friday night in my basement. It's so awful that it's a work of art. It's one of the best B movies out there. If you guys haven't seen it, grab a glass of wine and go for it. Just watch out for the hand grenade.

He can change gears at a 20th of second LOL.

But what a bad character development for stallone.

I think i am going to try to do both versions in the near future. I like the cape that the first version wears

The original is so funny if you watch it now, but i cant help but like it.
If you did the one from the original film, some might think you took a wrong turn on the way to some fetish party LOL.

I've just watched the remake of Death Race 2000 (just called Death Race now). Not a bad film, entertaining enough. I personally would have preferred a bit more development on the cars they used, watched the special features from that.

You really don't see the mask that often, not nearly long enough for it to stick in your mind unfortunately. It also had some of the most nausiating camera angles I've seen during the race sequences.
