How difficult would it be for someone with no skill to replicate the man-made kryptonite from Superman III?

I've coveted this piece since I was 10, but lack discernible prop making skills.

So...how hard would it be for a layman?

You should be able to sculpt that in clay, mold it and cast in clear green tinted resin.

Try it, and don't be afraid of failure. Failure is the fuel to improve.

Try using non air dry sculpting material. And you can rough shape the piece with aluminum foil. If you use super sculpey you should choose 1 hard + medium hardness and mix them with a pasta roller to be able to achieve the straight planes and sharp edges of a crystal like shape.

Since super sculpey has to be baked, don't use materials as filler that will be toxic to heat up.

Find as much high res reference as you can. Searching auction sites may have the item in an older auction with usually good photos.
