Hooooooooooooooooooooooowl. Wolf Paint Up.

As this looks like this will probably be the last wolf paint I do before i take a break from predators, I thought I would post it here.

I have been asked to do a dirty wolf paint up ( which anyone who knows me , knows I prefer anyway as preds should not be showroom clean )

Anyway , as I am on nights this week, this will be finished this week as I have time in the day to work on it.

Prosaide ran through my cheapo airbrush, followed by Faskolor White as a base.

Then I have started some undertones, which in this case meant quite abit of grey mottling, this will give some depth to the skin. ( hard to see as there is bright sunlight from the left..... shock horror we got some sun in the UK ) then I have started shading in yellow ocre and green followed by Sienna and burnt umber.

I will continue to darken those areas up until I am happy, then go back onto the pale areas with whites/greens/yellows and some more mottling with BLACK.

Now that I have one of these I shall watch this thread intently.  o_O  See, intently.  lol  I'll enjoying seeing this one done up.
Likewise really looking forward to seeing the layers go on. Airbrushing is still a slow learning curve for me and threads like this are fantastic.

Once again Lee big thanks for the tips you gave me.

Nothin' like a bit of down & duuurrrty!  :p
Gonna get that stream up and running again for some of this?

Virtually had no sleep after night shift grrrr, so I spent a while getting most of the tones and layers done, after some coffee I will be back out to see if I can get most of the spots done before work again at 6pm.

you know I'm not such a fan of the wolf as a character but dam that would make a killer display piece.   It's coming together, and I like how you descibe the process as you go along,  great info there.

The layering really adds a nice depth to it and the "dirty" look just gives it that sense of reality. Seeing you paint this one up makes me want to sculpt one. Lol

Well im done for the day, food wash and then another night shift.

tomorrow I will finish the burnt green areas and tweak any final skin colours. I hate the way the normal sun light effects the look, I forgot to close the garage door on these.

I always love to see your work, Lee!

I especially appreciate your documentation of your process. It's very, very cool to see the build up of layers, and how it all comes together in the end as the finished piece. I can totally see the development of your skills with each mask you paint, too --- and that's probably the coolest part of the whole process. Keep it up, Lee!!

:D

Spots done, mouth done and burnt green 50% done, I am having a break , then back in to blend the green to the horns on the right side, and then attach the teeth before work.

Dang it Lee, you make this look too easy.  You 've got some sort of Lee mask factory going on over there I bet.  I imagine small talented children doing all your work.  Don't lie.

I have a tribe of Minions from despicable me muhahahaha, they are trained in the jedi art of the airbrush. :D

This should be finished tomorrow, but tonight............we dine in heeeeeeeeeeeeeell.   oops sorry wrong film.

eerrrrr.
