Hippies Bio Paint Ups Etc.

I added a bit more green and powder blue mixed. Also rubbed over the peaks with a touch more pewter.
The tusks are on now also. Great thing is that the joins of the tusks dont need to be perfect as they will be covered with leather thonging.
Paul advised me to attach them with screws from behing which is great as they can be easily removed.
 
Sorry I missed your PM on this mate...I like what you have.  It actually looks quite like the cold cast bronze version that I did.  The patina on it looks nice, not too much, but not so subtle that you can't really make it out.  In case it helps, here's a pic of my cold cast one:

I'm now considering damaging the lense on the left side. It just seems a little strange to me that the bio is well damaged in that area but the lense is perfect.
Perhaps Tusky swapped out his lense after the dammage? Who knows?

Thanks so much guys.
One of the things thats always bothered me is weathered, battle damaged bios with perfect lenses.
I've enjoyed doing this one.
I'll post final pics when I have the bits etc.

looks great. Some of the best weathering with just paint i've seen..now ..here's the only last thing i'd recommend. Aging the tusks ..never understood how there can be so much age and weathering everywhere but there.  I took a dremel to mine and started carving in lines, notches, etc. ..then i gave it a very watered down wash of yellow ochre..then i took umber or brown ( cant remember which ) i put a dollop on my pallet ..then added water ..i did not mix ..i blotted a sea sponge right into it ..then blotted it over the tusk ..watered down brown fell into the grooves accenting them ..the little bits stuck here and there looking like old sinew or just dirt. here's what it looked like

Awesome bio George, love the look. Wish i had enough money to try out different concepts, i think it would be fun. But i mainly try and make the bios i have look reasonably film accurate to the best of my ability.
 
ha ..i always steer clear of screen accurate. I figure someone else has done it before ..who am i to try and copy ( plus ..im just not patient enough to match the detail ...special props to those here who can ..i have no idea how you do it) I look at them as blank canvases for me to mess up..ha. Plus im a fan of texture ..i added alot in that Tusky.

Chris ..you are killing it on this one ..the layers are so nice and subtle ..cant wait to see more of what you paint ..you are getting better on every one you do
 
Well I thought I was doing ok till I saw yours. You've gone and pissed all over my camp fire. Lol!
Very kind words though and appreciated.
I'll have a go at the tusks tonight and see how I get on. I think that because I'm in the early learning stages of painting its sometimes a bit of a worry to try certain things. Seeing examples such as yours gives a good push.

ha ..dont worry ..its just paint ..you cant really screw up ..everything can be painted over ..sanded down..built back up, etc. just have fun and experiment
