Highlander Modern Connor Costume Help

Sword is key and I will have a screen accurate one to constantly harass people with in character of course. Question. If I get the coat accurately reconstructed from the ground up would anyone be interested in buying them for a reasonable amount?

Is finding a reasonable lookalike proving to be that difficult?

I haven't tried looking through vintage trench coats yet on eBay but that's the plan.

Reasonable isn't hard. Accurate is. I want very accurate. The cut and construction of the film coat is not at all common to trench/rain coats. Very rarely do you see a coat with suit style lapels, single center seam back, and no straps on cuffs. It also has a very distinct double stitching to seams. I searched ebay very closely and found only one that was close. It was vintage 80's Armani. Minor differences in cut angles and no epaulets.

Seems like the unnecessary cuff straps could be removed and used to make the missing lapels.

Maybe?

Hmm those lapels do look more like a regular jacket lapel.

You mean use the straps for the epaulets? Possible I guess. Actually looking back on the photos I grabbed from the auction there are no straps on the sleeves.
Well not real ones. A real short kinda strap with two buttons to adjust cuff size a little. Coat was more than I wanted to spend at the time. Buy it now for over $100 if I remember. May still be available. I know it was relisted a couple times. I've mostly decided to try to recreate the coat as screen accurate as possible since as far as I know it hasn't been done. That is unless I can find out and acquire the make of coat that was used. Probably unlikely considering that was nearly 30 years ago. After all I don't settle for kinda sorta like it for my HL sword replicas. Which is why I worked with and hounded Daryl to get the HL2 katana exactly right to the film prop.

The Armani overcoat in question. Very close match. The cut angles on the lapel are a bit different. The button placement a bit different. One lapel has a button hole. The cuffs have a belt/cinch and two buttons. No epaulets (that I can see). Also it looks like it may be a different type fabric. In fact this may be just a suit overcoat and not a rain resistant coat.

I want to know exactly what those red gloves are too? Cooking gloves, electircians gloves? I figure it was to keep his hands from slipping on the sword grip. I would have to use similar gloves.

Hello gentlemen and ladies. I'm considering embarking on a quest to assemble a screen accurate set of costume clothes (in my size of course) for Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod modern version (1985) from the original Highlander film.

All help is greatly appreciated. Does anyone here happen to know specifics on any of the clothing pieces and vintage? The only piece I'm certain of is the Nike shoes but I don't know what year and make they are. I'm assuming the rain coat is a London Fog and the jeans are likely Levis but specifics where possible are appreciated. I want exacting detail and fit. Things like the shirt and socks aren't so important as they are pretty standard generic cut and styling. The make and style of the leather gloves would be nice though. I have the katana covered.

Thanx in advance to any who can make this journey easier and more fun.
