Here's my Planet of The Apes costumes

Than you for the help, I appreciate the time you took to list that stuff for me. I think those damn dirty apes must have bought all the Dickies maroon shirts, as they don't have a single one in stock.
Sorry to hear about the leather craftsman, he looked talented. I will probably attempt to disassemble an old leather coat and do it myself. As for the mask, I found that easily enough, but the neck seal or beard - is that the one sold for $50? If it is, it looks like you did a barber job on it?
I tried to join the 'forum of the apes' but it looks like it doesn't get any traffic anymore and I haven't heard back from the webmaster. Too bad, it looks like and informative sight.
Thanks a million Dave! I just hope I can achieve a costume half as nice as yours!
Cunningham

Thanks for the comments

The shirts do pop up on the bay now & again

You will need the neck seal as the back of the mask is open & this hides the back of you neck .You just have to sew it in . It needs one hell of a trim
( forgot to mention that bit :facepalm)

Very cool! The horses are the final touch;you are right...too bad you can't take em to cons. Ive got an ape's gorilla costume and I recently made a screen accurate rifle. Too bad you aren't in the US. Enjoyed the photos. Cheers!

Finally got a hold of those Dickies! Hopefully I will be a cutting edge ape as my pants are almost like skinny jeans. Think metrosexual ape!
I found a pair of similar boots, but they might be an inch or 2 shorter than yours, maybe I can add some leather. You got me on a mission Dave!

Hello David,
Fantastic costumes did you make the rifles.
I have just finished a full size screen used display and had to pay a small fortune for a original screen used rifle.
Steve.

Great costumes and pictures.
I am looking at the same mask black face economy / collectors mask from apemania and was wondering what the quality is like. It looks amazing in your pictures. I guess I'm always on the fence about getting masks because of the way they fit. Does it move around at all, not fit well against your eyes or collapse on itself in places? tricks or tips?
You have really inspired me to to this for my next costume. Thanks:)

I'm surprised you guys didn't spook the horses though... :eek

All the horses had been out for a hour + ride before we took the pictures . so where pretty tired & blue the horse on the left in the group pics fell asleep at one point . thankfully they don't need to lay down to sleep .

We had one moment when one of the flags we had spooked Ruby who I was on & we had a little unscheduled run around :eek

We bought ours over two years ago & they are still in very good condition .

For me I wear a balaclava under it & a female panty liner in the forehead to help absorb sweat . There's no real ventalation in them .

The mask fits well near the eyes & with good makeup , its not easy to see where the mask ends & you start . We get a lot of comments about how scary the eyes look .

The mask face is not thin , so doesn't go out of shape unless you push it in . Ive been kissed on the lips & the mask didn't fold in . but she was being gentle :p

Remember to get the Hair Collar as well $50 as the back of the neck is not covered by the mask . We sewn ours into the masks & gave it a good trim as there too much hair with both

Glad we have inspired you , its such a fun costume . You can get away with so much in it :lol

Agree with Dave about the Apemania economy masks, very well made nd do a superb job.

we've had our ours over four years now and thew are still going strong.

We wash, and talc them after every use, seems to help.

I wear a balaclava under mine as well.

The main problem is the lack of mouth mobility and therefore no speech.

A trade off as the foam prosthetics that would give you more flexibility are much more expensive.

Karyn and I must go Ape with you guys again soon Dave.
