Help Me fix my ALIEN

G'day folks,

As some may know I purchased one of those swimming aliens from an ebay seller. Now whilst it is cool...some parts broke off whilst I was re-positioning it on the ceiling.

They are clean breaks which will help them become almost invisible when glued. Now my problem. It's foam filled and made from some sort of fibreglass or resin for the shell. It is also painted. I tried supa glue and that didn't work. What sort of glue should I ise to make it happen? It needs to be strong.

I live in Australia as well so if you know of a local brand even better lol

Quick set 2 part epoxy works great if you are talking about fine cell or styrofoam.. epoxy is nice and thick, and will really grab the parts.

I dunno...cheap ass model supa glue for use with plastic kits lol

2 Part epoxy huh? The outer shell is fibreglass...I just don't wanna have to repaint. Thanks fo rthe help thus far guys:)

If the fiberglass is a clean break, meaning it goes together tight, the 2 part clear epoxy should grab and cure out solid inside the core, and the shell hairline cracks should be unnoticable if you fit it tight for about 10 minutes as it hardens Superglue may be WAY to runny to grab onto foam

Ok..at the behest of JT I'll put up some pics...I haven't got any of him broken just when I assembled him...He's around 13-14ft long give or take. Happy now JT" lol

Yes mate...It's been lightly misted but you can see the details inside....

Believe it or not I found it on EBAY...a guy sells these and just the heads occasionally. You can buy them raw....REALLY cheap. I mean CHEAP!!!!

OK...2 part epoxy it is:) Any brand in mind?

Use any fast set 5- or 10 minute epoxy, draw the parts together while it sets, and the cracks if they are tight should be un- noticable. I used to fly foam R/C planes when I was a kid, and when I crashed 'em I just fixed em with 2 part quick set epoxy. Its all about the same, any brand for quick-set, cos there are no real tensile standards for the fast stuff, but its strong!!!!. Let it cure 24 hours, It dries clear, and even it you dont wipe off the runs it may look like alien ooze lol

Hey Taz,

A long time ago you told me who the guy was who sells these. I forgot who you said it was. Yours looks fantastic!

Hey folks....the 2 part worked a treat and the joins can hardly be seen. Thanks:)

The guys name was Jeff Teo from memory. I can't find him on ebay anymore either. I seem to remember he was making them in Malaysia....

Hi, I'm a carpenter in the real world and when I am in doubt I use "PL construction adhesive" it comes in a Tube for caulking guns and is cheap, it dries in 24 hours and is the strongest stuff I have come across, also it doesn't melt styrofoam or plastics like some other model glues. just be careful with any bleed out, it is better to let it dry and cut it off than wipe it off, it makes a mess and is sticky/gummy.

I would use some 5 minute CLEAR two part epoxy. They sell it. I've seen it. They even have a 1 minute epoxy - but I found that that was too short of a time to work with.

The 5 minute clear one, dries crystal clear. It'll totally match with the glossy paint finish of the alien as it is now, and no one will know the difference.

Don't know why this thread restarted...other than some more sage advice lol I already fixed it with the two part 5 minute epoxy. It worked a treat and looks great. I'll have to take some pics huh? lol
