Hellboy II: Prince Nuada (Big Update! 12/19/11 with lots of pictures.)

This is really inspiring to see! I want to make this costume too. (Somewhere in the nebulous future...) It's really cool to see how you're going about it!

Thank you, AJ! I don't know a whole lot about costume making, so I end up just making stuff up as I go. It works most of the time. :)

I went to a Halloween party last weekend and won the costume contest! How exciting! I didn't get many pictures, but my roommate did. I should post those pics sometime next week.

Also, I have a question about wigs. I know that a synthetic wig won't hold dye, but is it possible to bleach a synthetic wig? The one I have is pretty good for its price, but WAAAAYYYY too blonde (you'll see that in the pictures). I would like it to be much lighter.

Happy Fifth of November, everyone!

Re: Hellboy II: Prince Nuada (Update 11/5/11)Slight update and wig question.

Looking great so far! Loving the obi design.

For wigs, due to the hairstyle, its kind of hard to get by with less than a lace front wig.
Of course this really depends on how far you want to go with the costume as they are a bit pricier. I lucked up and found a nice synthetic, lace front white wig on eBay for $45.00 a couple months ago. So there are options.

I did a Nuada for a commission a couple years back. It was definitely and exercise in creative costuming. Especially the armor.

I would suggest going wider and longer (about knee length) with your sash. It should crumple under its own weight and that'll make it more dramatic.

wow,i know someone who would kill for that

Re: Hellboy II: Prince Nuada (Big Update w/lots of pictures!)

Hey, RPFers! I have been super busy with real life (college and whatnot), but my sister took a lot of pictures of the costume earlier today. Unfortunately, my makeup was very flaky. It got pretty smudgy by the end. )-:

Darth Mule, you're right. I think I'll be investing in a lace front wig if I can find a cheap enough one. That would look a looooot better. Although I used a bigger sash in today's pictures, it didn't show as much as I wanted it to. It was certainly "flowier" than the one in the old pictures.

Jaina, thanks for the link! I'll probably end up using that if I get a lace front wig.

And now for silliness! The wig kept getting in my mouth. Eeeww!

It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye. Or ear as the case may be... Time to make VanGogh jokes?

I really appreciate everyone's advice and support. I never thought I could make a costume like this, and probably wouldn't have without the RPF.

Last but not least: Merry Christmas! Happy Hanuka! Happy Kwanza! Happy Not Celebrating Anything in Particular! Have a lovely month of December.
