He-Man Power Sword Cartoon style

Really nice work you have there, MTB. I grew up watching MOTU, and I loved the design for the Power Sword!

I'll be watching this project very closely...

I went to a place called Clay Planet here and got some plaster for the outer shell, I used this 20 Minute Casting Plaster and it worked really well!

But I did make a pretty big mess! (this is mostly cleaned up lol)

And the de-molded results!

Im going to try to finish this tomorrow as i have the day off. I will post pictures if i do.

this worries me... because I think this is something I would HAVE to have if you do an interest thread...

but shipping a sword?!? I could see that breaking my bank. heh

Thanks! This might get finished tonight. This is how it sits right now I was able to work on it before work today. I'm going to do the last layer of silicon and maybe the outer shell tonight when I get off.

Update:
Damn I didn't get to finish this tonight. Just too tired and have work in the morning. I didn't want to rush it, tomorrow after work I should have more time.

Cracked open, a bit of flash but nothing major.

Here it is in all its 7lbs glory!!! I didnt expect it to weigh this much lol. I some cleaning up to do but I am extremely happy with the results!

Might have some time to clean it up and paint it tomorrow but we'll see! Not sure if I'm going to paint this one purple or grey.....

Side note:
I dont know why the pictures are links and dont show previews in the thread. I'm not doing anything different.

Came out great!!! :thumbsup Did you used some kind of reinforcement along the sword, like a thin metal tube or rod?

Thanks! I actually did not use anything to reinforcement it. This was a test run to see if i needed too and I do not. This is solid plastic and its super strong I wont need to strengthen it at all. My only concern is if I do a run that the shipping will cost too much, the sword alone is over 7lbs! I have a few things to fix before I decide if ill do a run or not. Ill post more pics as I clean it up more.

Cleaned it up a bit and threw some paint on it to see how it would look

Sword one.jpg
This is just primer but it shows how it would look grey

And of course I had to try purple! I think i found the perfect purple imo!

Let me know what you think!

Also I posted an interest thread in the JY, So if you want one please post over there, Here is the link

Hey,
did you use that big picture of the 2 Filmation style swords as your template for this project? I sure hope so because I'm the guy who drew those pictures! I put in a few tell tale features so I'd know if anyone ever used it.
It's great to see my design of my dream sword come to life!
:)

Can't wait to see the final product.
