Hasbro Slave 1 Conversion

I was considering putting this under the Studio Scale section but I dunno the way things go with folks over there so I'm sticking to this section

This is the excellent 2010 'Rise of Boba Fett' Slave, original I got one for £10 on ebay but the buyer made up a load of cheap excuses about why he couldn't send it. SIGH. So I ended up paying about £40 for this one all in all, still not too bad.

I intend to do this up as well as I can into a 1/35 ESB version

First off, this thing is huuuuge. Here it is next to my Revell Slave 1

It took me around half an hour to disassemble the toy and bag all the screws

The interior detail is actually really nice...well in keeping with the Star Wars feel. It's almost a shame that none of this is going to be seen again

Here's the toy next to a 1:35 Tamiya figure, it looks about right to me according to the Star Wars cross section book. I don't have any 1:24 figures for comparison though, any thoughts?

I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into this build :)

eh up buddy, how big ya ya plans for this?cant wait see how it pan`s out..i`ll keep me eye out on ya build mym8!
cheers peza

Awesome - Looking forward to seeing this.

And since you asked I think the figure you have is a bit too large. If I had to guess - about twice as big as he should be. I base this on the scene of Han getting loaded onto the Slave 1 at 1:42:52 of ESB.

Ah brilliant I was looking for that screengrab everywhere! I'll see if I can get hold of a 1:48 figure and see how that sits with it all

I went and got it specifically for you :). I keep a copy of all the films on my desktop just for this stuff... plus I watch them too :wacko:thumbsup

Cheers Dade!

I picked up this Tamiya Flak kit, I'm going to try and replicate the studio model guns as closely as I can (afford to)

I'm just stuck on how to make the conical tips...I couldn't find an M42 Duster in 1/48 scale

I have the Duster in 1/35 if that helps for reference

Remember the scale of the donor parts does not relate to the scale of the studio model. Parts of various scales are used on each model.

Exciting. Love this ship and love watching these builds unfold. I've been lurking for awhile on this site and registered today to post some MF pics, but I have to comment on this and some of the other threads. You guys blow my mind.

Ah yeah that's true I guess. I was hoping that I could find smaller scaled versions of the kits used that's all, but I didn't work out the scaling actually now I think of it

Thanks buddy, I look forward to seeing your builds!

Quite a few Hasbro transfo here on the RPF...will follow this one closely for sure; you're off to a good start;)

Sweet! Do you have a build thread around? Or photos perhaps??
No, i am basically at the same stage as you where i just dismantled it into it's component parts......i've had to delay the Slave 1 build as i'm doing a 1:350 USS Reliant and a 1:350 Refit build.....but, i'll be keeping a close eye on your progress and will probably shamelessly nick your ideas!

Good luck, skip!

Good to see another Slave 1 on the bench. I've added this to the collection here.

Thanks JP, I appreciate it.

As I said over in this thread, there seems to be a discrepancy with scale. 1:35 figures look slightly too big, but 1:48 looks too small. I'm gonna make an educated guess that this is really around 1:40 scale, the trouble with that is that 1:40 figures are pretty hard to find. I think for my build I'll be sticking to 1:35 figures, especially for the range of sculpts available.

1:35

But yeah what do you guys think? 1:48 or 1:35, or something else entirely? I hear that toy soldiers are around 1:40 scale
