Hasbro repainted B Wing and 12" Speederbike (Better B pics post 18)

I call it "Hasbro Studio Scale"

I can't afford all the props I want and all the Ships I want in Studio Scale. Since the 1986 B Wing (Still used today) and the newer larger scale ships, walkers, etc. are so well done I am going to be re-painting a few for my archives collection. Next will be an ATST, X wing, Modified Y Wing, etc.

I researched several incredible SS B wings that were posted here. I started with the new K Mart B Wing. Covered the screw holes with small shaped pieces of plastic that blend in with the rest of the plating. Took out the window. Primered the whole thing, then covered damage and wear with liquid latex, then a not quite full coat of black, then a base flat white, leaving some areas not totally covered so the black would come through. 95% of the weathering, damage, etc. is NOT topical, it is from underneath.

Not bad for my first attempt at this.

The pics are okay but it looks better in person. I am very happy with it. I took some artistic license and had some fun with it.

Added foam for a new seat and need to finish a few details in the cockpit.

The 12" Speederbike and Bikerscout are awesome as they come. I will eventually modify both and have a 12" weathered Hasbro Bikerscout on one of them.

Again 95% of damage and wear in NOT topical. I primered the whole thing, added a entire finish of metallic aluminum, then the proper colors and scratched away. Added some black rubbing on top.

I also dabbed the seat to make it look like leather with some texture. It did not look right smooth. I added leather straps to the sleeping bag to replace the plastic ones. Still need to add buckles I think to the straps.

I still need to finish the controls.

Amazing work. I always love seeing Hasbro mods and repaints.

Re: Hasbro repainted B Wing and 12" Speederbike

Wow, those both look amazing!!!!

Re: Hasbro repainted B Wing and 12" Speederbike

I have the speeder bike and have been dying to repaint it so it doesn't look so toy like. You did a great job.

They look great. The B wing was the only vehicle I had in the 80s and is still a favorite.

Re: Hasbro repainted B Wing and 12" Speederbike

Thanks for all the kind words guys. As soon as I finish the cockpit I'm gonna take some better pics of the B wing. Also I have no idea why the orange circles look so fluorescent in the pics. They don't look like that in person.

Re: Hasbro repainted B Wing and 12" Speederbike

I so need a speederbike now for my collection. Maybe I should ditch a few of the Hasbro doubles I have for a bike instead.

Re: Hasbro repainted B Wing and 12" Speederbike

Amazing work.
WoW!!! Junk Pilot.... you don't have one of these? I'm not sure what's more amazing the work jameth1971 has done here or your thinking you should maybe think about getting one for yourself. And after you do you will find yourself wondering how did I ever make it through the day with out one? The Hasbro 12" speeder bike has to be in the top 10 coolest SW toys ever. If they and been painted as skillfully as these it would be in the top 3. Rarely do you see people paint these and pull it off. In this instance jameth1971 TOTALLY HAS!!!
Cheers,
Clint

Re: Hasbro repainted B Wing and 12" Speederbike

great work jameth1971.like darth ronnow said the 12" speeder bike is worth gettin.looks awsome.

Re: Hasbro repainted B Wing and 12" Speederbike

Now that I realise how great they look I WILL get one.....eventually. But at the moment I couldn't pass up buying a Hasbro Walmart AT-ST AND a Target exclusive large wing SOTDS TIE Fighter AND an Endor bunker AND figures for only $30. Even with $40 postage to Australia it's still a great bargain.

Next year will be the Year Of The Speeder Bike though.

Amazing work.

The speeder bike is awesome! Is it to scale with a 1:6 scale figure?

Yes, It's the one that came with the 12 inch Bikerscout, then Luke, then Leah.

I'm gonna due a second one with a weathered Bikerscout.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.

Gonna try to take some better pics of the B wing as soon as I finish the cockpit.

Thanks again

Re: Hasbro repainted B Wing and 12" Speederbike

Ah, No. Sorry. I'm still trying to get my head above water building props for sale. These were done because I needed a break for a few days to have a little fun but I'm back in full building mode. Also the ship paint job is good, but not that good yet.

It would cost more than it would be worth.

It's really not that hard. Just primer (Oreilly has a great black auto primer that adds great color for scratches) , aluminum coat if you want metal looking scratches, then the top color. After that just scratch and rub away. Gently sand with fine sandpaper, You can put liquid latex over stuff at various stages and then peal that away. Put a tiny amount of black or silver on a brush, wipe off on a cloth and go crazy. A lot of the black weathering on the speederbike was applied with a Q tip and then just rubbed of with bare fingers.

Better B Wing pics:

I think these show it off better. I still need to finish the details on the cockpit. My 4 year old son is helping point stuff out on the ship.

I just found one of these (and a y-wing) today at my part time job. I'm wondering what to do with it and I think this is a pretty good start. I'm thinking about turning it into a lamp. hmmmmm..... Nice work dude:)

Those are seriously amazing. I use to own both of those toys and the difference between the originals and the repaints are night and damn day! Seriously those are amazing and you are lucky to own them. Thanks for sharing the photos, they look wonderful!
