Hasbro Hero Millennium Falcon Modification

J, if you are not going to use the 8 rib vents, want to sell them as I prefer the 8 rib

Also, on the rear insert with the two sherman tanks, whats the tank in the middle?

Your rear deck is looking great. I see you have removed a lot of the fat pipe detail...I am just waiting for a micro scalpel to turn up. Its amazing what excites me sometimes..

Beautiful! Yeah, that center part in the back could use more detail.

Thanks Tek2,....dont know what I'll fill it with, might just scratch something

Yeah no problem samster,....the insert,...in between the shermans is part of a matilda....another cheap Airfix 1/72 model

Yes I removed some of the pipes,....once you get started though, you keep going,....then you've got a load of mess to tidy

Loving the pipe work just makes it so much better altogether :)

Do you use anything special like brass or is it all more random like the white pipe that you put in the cutouts?
Also I think the 6 rib is better, anything that pushes this towards the 5 footer is nice, like you said before any time you see the falcon and its not blurred its probably the 5', funny thing is I prefer the sidewalls on the 32"
What will you base your walls on J?

Much better.

EDIT: Yep HH, A Panther will work as well,....I just knew that the particular King Tiger's hatches could open,....maybe the Panther kits do also

Hey John,

Still watchin this amazing thread. Got my AA and primer for £13 shippedon ebay :)

Regarding these tank,/airfix pieces, could you just cut the originals out and add a little taller wall to them and then reattach? Trying to budget this build :)

Yeah Lee, thats what I did with the one on the portside,.....doing what you said to all three ( & possibly the circular ones on the mandibles) would add so much to the ship making it less moulded looking

Hi jaitea ,
brilliant work on your hasbro ship , I have just received mine and started the insanity of making it better, I know there are a lot of details in some of the posts , but even with pharchivists brilliant summary I am confused on some points.

what are you using to glue styrene and kit parts to the plastic of this toy, I know ca is mentioned but is this prior to coverage with adhesion aid ( which btw is hard to get here in ireland, I am going to test plastic primer , and plastic paint) or after the model has been primed.

I want to mount this properly so am working to install alluminium box section within the model, I am considering epoxy resin to bond the aluminium to the plastic , has anyone had success with this.

model painting has improved a lot since I last painted, I thought dry brushing and powder paint dirtying was enough to create a good model, looking at my last millennium it is now what I consider stand off detail. Which was fine at the time but wow have things moved on... WWII model accuracy has been brought into all modelling and some of the examples on this forum are fantastic, hopefully I can emulate some of it .
like all beginners it good to show where I am starting from so here is my MF from ages ago....
also with next year the return of Star Wars 7 I had a millennium falcon wreath on the front door as a joke, but my wife let me hang it as a permanent christmas decoration .....yeee hhhhaw .

So is this Heroes Falcon a reworking of the Legacy mold? Does this mean we'll never see the Legacy Falcon reissued?

i didn't mean to hijack this thread , I'll start my own up soon as I have found an off the shelf solution for lighting that everyone can use world wide . I also want to post my trials with primers on the inside of the model, if anyone could answer these questions I would appreciate it .
thanks

I gave the ship a blast of the Adhesion Aid,.....then a spray of Bumper paint......after that CA seems to glue pretty well

Robwolf, the Hero series Falcon is a completely new mold from the Legacy Falcon (BMF). Whereas the Legacy Falcon has almost every play feature a child/collector could want in it, including being able to put the action figures inside it, the Hero series Falcon does not and has only 2 minor moving parts (top quad cannon and radar dish). The Legacy Falcon also measures out to 31 inches in the length and the Hero series Falcon is 28 in however the detail is a compromise between the 5ft and 32in ships.

I'm sure we'll see the Legacy Falcon again in a couple of years time since it was a successful product that was eventually re-boxed for TVC range.

Christmas 2015 is still my bet - new dish, boom, done. Hasbro put too many resources into that thing to only see one release of it (possibly two if you count the vintage box version, which is otherwise identical).
