Harry potter Gryffindor Robe

Hi im looking for some information on pricing on a Harry potter Gryffindor Robe, My wife has a terminal illness and i managed to get a studio tour whilst Half Blood prince was being filmed :O). We were given a tour round the real film set and through creature work shop, where they were building the Weasly shop sign.. As you can imagine not being aloud to take pics was very annoying. But when we walked through the wardrobe department the head lady gave my wife a robe from the set.. I do not have any proof apart from a picture of it and a photo with some of the stars..

Any advice would be much appreciated...

I would first gather all documentation you can. All plane tickets (if you flew out there), all corresponding letters or emails during the time you organized the visit. Any passes you have from visiting the set. Take complete photos of the whole robe, amd any tags and labels on it. Collect any other documents that could link you to that trip, as well as type a very thorough letter of authenticity describing the whole event.
Take all this documentation and keep it in one envelope. You will ned solid proof of origin, and the more links to the studio the better.
As for value... Just research around auction sites like Profiles In History and see what previous potter items have sold for to gauge the market and prices. Hopefully someone here can help figure out the price. :)

And... Hope your wife is doing well.

i don't know of any precedence for this your best chance for a realistic price range is going to be to auction it or at least put up a listing with a ridiculous reserve (if they dont charge through the roof for it), does the cloak have any labels inside

When you look back in 20 years, you'll be so glad you have that. I highly recommend you don't sell it unless you simply have no other choice.

That will be something you can keep in the family for a very very long time.

If you went to auction with it I would at least put a reserve of £1000 on it, there is/was a gryffindor one on eBay for a bin price of £4000 so you could possible get 2-3k if you didn't want to go to auction try the prop store or I could give you contact details of a potter collector who I've sold several screen used wands to amongst other stuff.

I wouldn't worry too much about keeping all your documents together. If you have them then great, if not then its not really a big deal. 99% of potter pieces don't have docs for obvious reasons.

A potter collector can tell a screen used robe. If its just the robe then you're looking anywhere from $1200-$1800. I sold a complete OotP one last year and got $2200 for it but I included the shoes, socks, and robe.

I'm really sorry to hear about your wife mate.

This is by far the best advice that can be given. I'd be hard pressed if something
like that was given to my wife to auction or sell it. YMMV
