Hardening cloth

Just wondering what is a good way to harden cloth,for instance taking a shirt and Making it like arMor.
 
You can buy a solution that will stiffen hats, I doubt it will become like amour though. Probably need to use some sort of resin.
 
best way to do something like that is use resin for fiberglass . we used to use sheet cloth when doing custom speaker boxes to help get a nice rounded edge.. so should work to kinda make it hard like armor.. but it will be kinda tricky because if you use a mannequin or something to hold it you will need something to help release it/ keep it from sticking.. dont know if this helps ..im just a newbie to prop making.

Anything helps and thank you for your input....I believe soMe ancient warriors used to stiffen their linen shirts with urine but that isnt soMething I want to try lol.
 
Resin itself will make it stiff but brittle. You can try the pepakura way and basically resin, fiberglass, and Rondo. That would make it "armour" like harness and strength.
