Limited Run Han Solo ROTJ Blaster Active Project

Having the pistons anodized is fine by me. As for the hole placement, I think centered is best. That being said, what kit did the original piston half come from exactly? From what I can remember it was from a V8 Revell model? Can we look at that and confirm it's what we should have?

The ESB blaster used the VV8 model pistons. The ROTJ Blasters used a machined replica of the pistons. They were not replicated very well because they look a lot different from the real model pistons

Ok, sounds good to me. Thanks for the info, I didn't know that one! My vote is to have the holes in the piston to be centered.

I just updated the first post of the thread with the results of our discussions thus far.

Please read the first post and let me know if that is what you expected.

I revised the numbers down to 40 parts sets and the cost up to $250. This is just a guestimate based on my discussions with my shop.

I obviously can not get exact figures until we have firm numbers and finalized parts.

I will add a post to the thread tomorrow to discuss the scope, then all we have left for the machined parts is the milled details.

We could wrap up this part of the discussion by the week end :)

What size of rivets are we using on the pistons?

1/8" pop rivets, the will come with the kit

Sounds good to me. Will you be providing recommendations on how to obtain the parts you have as listed not being included in the kit?

Yeah, anyone doing a run on scope rings? lol.

Those parts will be in the kit, they are just not included in the estimate for the machined parts.

Once we get the machined parts worked out I will move onto the odd items such as the scope lens, scope rings, mesh scope tip, etc.

There is no reason to hold off on getting the machined parts in process while we are discussing the rest of the kit.

I will cover those costs and will tack it onto the shipping payment.

For instance, if I can get the scope rings wholesale for $4 I will just add that to the final shipping cost.

That's great .
Thanks again Boba for putting this all together.

Let's discuss the 6 piece scope

It is made from 4 machined parts, a plastic or glass lens and I used a resin mesh insert for the tip

I am pretty sure my machined parts are still accurate but I need to now the following

1. Is a plastic lens which will cost about $1 ok or do we want to look into glass?

2. Is everyone ok with a resin mesh insert for the scope tip

Depending on cost.. I'd be tempted by a glass lens and a aluminium turned tip.

I'd like to look into glass if it's only a couple dollars difference... as the mesh tip... not sure what the actual prop looked like in that regard, so I'm easy either way.

Glass..... for sure.

Tip, either way for me. Metal would be great to match the finish, but either way honestly

Glass was not an option last time. I couldn't find anyone that could make the size we needed
