Does anyone have information about these? I've never seen a good reference photograph. I remember seeing a thread somewhere on some forum about them, but can't remember where. Any info would be great!

The headset is a Racal Minilite headset. You can find them on ebay from time to time. They range from $150-300 depending on condition.

Incidently the same headset used in:

X-wing pilot helmet
Aliens hedsets and quite a few other sci-fi films.

Hey thanks a lot! I actually searched it here and found more info. This forum has the best search function I've seen in a while.

If you don't need a working version of the headset, I know there are a couple of board members who have made resin copies in the past. I'm sure one of them will chime in soon if they see this.

I have never notist that Han wear gloves in that scene....

Yep. They're only in the movie for like 10 minutes and very elusive. The only person I know that makes them is Indy Magnoli.

Thanks. I've gotten in contact with Richies Armor about his set and he's considering doing another run. I'd like to know if anyone has any copies available. We'll see what happens.

Jokes aside, does anyone know the real world application for these? Military? Television broadcasting? Operator? Or something else...

Yep they were telecommunication headsets orginally. But can be used for just about any purpose depending on the transmitter you get.

The Amplivox Minilite headset was a product of Amplivox Accoustics, who were later bought out by Racal. Racal rebranded it as the RA-150 and continued to sell the headsets up until 1998.

It has always been a lightweight headset for use by Air Traffic Control operators.
The law prohibits a company to sell them to civillians, because the components and manufacturing processes contain certain hazardous chemicals.

Hi there, new to this so be kind! I'm also looking for replica racal headsets, I've been trying Richies armour, but haven't even got a response to my emails, I'd be very grateful for any leads or offers of kits for sale, I have a fair knowledge of prop making skills, so they can just be bits, thanks a lot in advance, Dan
