To attach the mount to a Mauser, you will want to mark it first with a punch or a black marker and then a punch. Use the mount holes as a reference. You can use a 9/64" drill bit with a 8-32 tap or use the drill bit that came with the 8-32 tap.Hope you don't mind me asking what size drill and tap do you need to attach the mount?
How too have you painted yours have you sprayed it or painted it by hand?
For paint, I recommend using black satin Krylon. I've used Rust-oleum and ACE Hardware premium satin black, but both are lower quality than they used to be. Krylon paint can be found at Hobby Lobby and Walmart.
