Halo Reach - Jun A266 build

After finishing my HEV suit from the ol' Half Life I have decided on making one of my favourite Spartans from the Halo Reach game (Jun).. just 'cause he's pretty bad ass and has some pretty sweet cooking puns XD (Plus Master Chief has been done to death)

Current progress on the helm:




It's not 100% accurate and it's a tad messy with the glue everywhere.. But its a start and there's always room for creative license - I'll be adding detail with 2mm craft foam as well. This is currently fully freehand and I'm thinking of taking a cast when its done and moulding it in a slightly more rigid material, see how that goes XD

I also have 1 shin and 1 and a half custom bits of shoulder armour made.

My goal is to have it built for the Halo 5 release (doubt I'll get it out for Halo Master Chief collection).. anyway some sort of midnight release wherever it may be.. going as a Spartan, fun times right!

Slight Update... though nothing in particular has been done.. annoyingly for the amount of time spent thinking about it XD

Here's the Boot/shin. There is a wedge in the heel that adds approx 7 inches to my height so it'll be close to 7 foot when complete.



I used the wrong lower barrel for this photo anyway... its going to be about 1/3 that length. But it's a start



I also have 2 shoulder armours but I have them way up on the shelf and keep forgetting to take pics...

Just a quick update:

Done some more work on the helmet, I need a new glue gun to make more parts!

Added the countersinks for where the PC screws are going to go and primed/tidied.


And a touch of progress on the gun... got the barrels attached and re-shaped the stock.

Had a productive weekend on this one!

Not 100% happy with the top part of the helmet, so I'll be filling that in and sanding etc to tidy it up, otherwise its basically finished:

(you can see what I mean in this one). Just looks a bit of a mess...


Otherwise here's the rest, I nicked an LED from the old 'laser pointer' attachment that was on the Nerf gun.



And this is said Nerf gun Rifle's finished just needs a paint job and some details, I went for the older halo style scope it's a bit oversized compared to the newer ones.

Quick update, nothing fancy...

Just built another boot, painted the rifle a bit, shoulders are in these pics

The boots are quite cool, really comfy heels XD


Need to get a better pic of this but hey it'll serve.

Finally got the visor to finish up the helmet, put a 'bolt' in that big hole that was in the side of the helmet too!

I also made the other boot and built another shin... only need the torso, thigh, forearm and half a shoulder piece, wahey

Well...

Another long while... and another lack of any significant progress - UNTIL, this weekend, by the time this is finished Halo will no longer be cool ha

Anyway this is the current progress and the first test fit:



Eventually all the parts will be attached to those fancy clips you get on your backpacks. These will then attach to an undersuit (probably a Morph suit of sorts) in order to keep them all pulled up and in place.

I have since carved out a shed load of detail in the foam using a Dremel sanding bit and base coated everything in the awesome Spartan Green, just got a bit of tidying up to do.

Another Quick update, finished painting everything (except boots which still need sanding).

Just the finishing details to add... though I have to wait till payday to buy more foam... I don't think the credit card can handle it XD



Pretty bad quality these ones, ran out of natural light:



(also that big kind of expanse between the shoulders will be detailed in with some jets, vents, thrusters.... something cool, it's covered by Jun's camouflage cowl though, but hey)


I'm wondering about arse plates or a proper cod piece, I think it will mess up the proportions as I have augmented my height I don't want the torso to look extra long.

eh, food for though.

Well I hope anyone watching has enjoyed this... or otherwise.

I've got this beast of a suit completed. In advance for a change! just a few minor repairs from constant pulling on and off, test fitting etc.

But hey here you go:

Hey hey,

Went to the London MCM Comicon Excel... got far too few pictures.. but hey as usual I dare you to keep getting a camera out of a suit and not break the suit or the camera or both




i did have a balaclava type thing so you couldn't see any skin and made it a bit more realistic... but... the heat.. almost died as it was!

So pleased with the final result and, best of all.. it survived, not one breakage, not one scratch XD

Saving it for the next Con' and the Midnight release of Halo 5 (hopefully at Oxford Street)
