Hello all!!
Since I've been a member here for a few years, and now that I have a few costumes under my belt, I thought I should just go for it and make a build thread for my next project. While at C2E2 this April, my friends and I were discussing what ideas we had for new costumes and projects. Remembering how much I loved the FUD movie, and how awesomely crafted Chief's suit was and how bad ass it made his character come across, I blurted out "I'd love to do the Forward Unto Dawn Master Chief, but I'm not sure if there are pepakura files for it?"
Well, once I got home from the con, and about one minute of internet research, I found a set of files. I was thrilled! Downloaded them all right away.
As I opened each file, I began to slowly lose confidence in the idea of making this suit. The reason why was because the only pepakura files that exist for this armor are quite low definition and missing a lot of details (I'm kinda anal about details lol). I guess I'm just too spoiled from the pep files I've used in the past to make various costumes being so detail oriented that I started to think I wasn't going to be able to do this. It was always so easy just relying on the pep file. But I soon started to think how fun it would be to get creative and make this build a bit more of my own; put my own little signature on it, from help of the writer of these files, of course.
After more research for picture references and what not, I started to think of ways I could build onto, or modify the pepakura model of each piece once it was built.
And to further help my ambition, I came across a beautiful FUD Chief helmet from Rusty and the crew over at Stoney Props. Needless to say, I pick one up, and it's flawless!! I shall post pictures when I think to take some.
ANYWAYS......onto the build...I picked a pretty easy piece to start with: the bicep. Was going like a charm until I realized the file was unfolded to be two separate pieces and with no spare pieces to connect them!! Grrrr. Well after about an hour I figured how I could join them and make it work....(you can see two built stand-alone pieces by my ps3 controller)
Here are the two pieces attached to make the bicep:
So it's coming along nicely. Already have a few ideas to get a couple more details added to this piece. Pics will come as soon as I make the modifications.
Going to be moving on to the shoulder next.
I'll just keep posting progress even if no one's interested or not, hahaha.
Any questions or comments/criticism, by all means ask and/or suggest away!!
