Halloween Videos - 'Real' Ghosts..

Regardless of if you believe or not, don't watch any of these at night.

I just saw this one, and if this is %100 real, it's really the scariest thing i've ever seen!

skip the rest and check out #1.

Classic psychosomatic behavior. You got spooked and all the trappings that come with it because the video says it's about ghosts and shows clips of muddy, vague video of things in the distance, which could be a host of things, so the viewer, already wanting or expecting to see ghosts, sees them.

I don't believe in the paranormal beyond an intellectual level for entertainment but I can clearly see where some would see these as ghostly activity. However, some of these just need to be called out for. The 5th clip camera looking into a dark patch of woods, did no one think that it was deer they caught and the camera couldn't parse it out? That 'movement' at the edge looked suspiciously like deer's backend to me; the lighthouse thin could've been a bunch of things but dark specks in, what I assume to be, a still functioning lighthouse is suspect to me; the 3rd one in the hospital is dust, no if, and's, or buts about it; the prison one looked suspiciously like someone in a dark sheet seeing that they've been caught on camera and darted before the gig was up, I'm not ruling out a ghost but I'm also not ruling out that it wasn't either; and that last clip is bogus. Full stop. The house has already been admitted to be rigged with holograms to simulate a ghost, this little gimmick at their most talked up location in the manor is not beyond possibility to pull off. Flashing lights and a projection of a shadow with some footsteps in hidden speakers? A small EMP to interfere with recording devices temporarily? This is a gag, straight up, and the staff is playing it up. As for the kid who taped it, in the words of P.T. Barnum, "A sucker is born every minute."

All too true,

And this is all stuff the folks at Disney could probably re create with the haunted mansion on a lunch break if they tried.

I dunno, this is one area where I'd like to drop the skepticism on some videos at least and hope at least one is real ;o).

And yeah, the GhostHunters video is CLEARLY a guy in a cape. you can even see a shoe in one frame.
that was back when the show was first getting started, and as I recall, didn't catch ANY evidence at all. everything was either disproved, or naturally occurring.
My guess is, someone at sci fi stepped in, said 'fella's, you've gotta up your evidence game'...and hence, guy in sheet. we've been getting a spattering of 'evidence' ever since.

Although, I've had a few weird thingshappen in my house over the years that i would claim as odd.
So, I can't totally discount some of this stuff :).

Yah, I'm not buying the #1 clip at all.
Too much convenience in a single clip:
Lights behave erratically, sound of footsteps, apparition of feet on the stairs, shadow on the floor, door opens and closes, electrical interference...
It smacks of someone who's never experienced something paranormal setting out to create something paranormal.

The "Ghost Hunters" guys got caught faking on a Halloween special several years ago.
I was watching when it happened, and it was so obvious I changed the channel and haven't watched them since.
I trust those yahoos about as far as I can throw them.

I don't know the exact term but it has to do with the brain establishing patterns, rooted deep in our evolution, correlating what we see to what we know or believe. Someone says these are videos of ghosts, implanting in our minds to see ghosts, and if you're wanting to see ghosts, you see ghosts. After the video, the lights in the room briefly flickered; does that mean my house is haunted or that spooky spirits did that in spite of me through some force that recognized my skepticism? No, my mind only briefly entertained that because it correlated the information of the two together: spooky video about ghosts to some "common paranormal activity" that happens from other media my brain has stored when actually it's a common occurrence.

Just because you want to believe doesn't make it wrong, but neither is thinking critically, analyzing what you perceive and your own thoughts in any situation. Not doing so is dangerous, in my opinion.

wasn't that the 'Grant Makes his sweater move' issue?

There was also the issue on the meatloaf episode as I recall too and a water bottle.

I'm guessing the real issue with grant leaving was he got tired of having to fake stuff for tv.

Notice after the shirt issue they stopped the live halloween shows too.

I always try too...especially with the goofy ghost shows that I just find entertaining for some reason...

But ever since a few odd unexplained things have happened, i'm starting to loose that critical thinking in an effort to try and come up with more 'real' evidence.
Sort like the guy in Capser the movie ;o).
But, like you said, your brain is pre conceived with things and it may trick you into believing more to boot.

Also dangerous thinking....

Yep, that was the one.

I'm in the same camp with ghosts as I am with UFOs:
I'm like Fox Mulder - I want to believe.
Although I'm not on a website actively debunking ghost videos like I used to do with UFOs...
I have a skeptical mind - I'm always trying to rationalize and explain things.
That's what I did on the UFO investigation forum that I was a member of for years.
Found explanations for mundane things that people thought were UFOs.
Problem was, it was an open forum - any knuckle-dragger could join - so for every three of us offering explanations, there were 300 shouting us down, calling us government shills, accusing us of being part of the cover-up. It was ridiculous. I eventually lost my temper with the fruit-loops and got banned.
The paranormal field is much the same way, I'm sure. On the one hand is people who want to believe so badly that every dust mote is an orb, and on the other is people who fake stuff to antagonize or profit off the loons. Somewhere in the middle is a tiny minority of people who take it seriously, but their voices are lost in the din and never heard.

I watch the "Ghost Adventures" guys. And I'll continue watching them until I catch them faking something.
Heck, for all I know everything they do is fake. But if it is, they're good at it, because I haven't caught them yet.

Thankfully I'm not that bad yet, re dust more /orb.

I've seen too much fakery, starting with the most Haunted guys and their unbelievable 'evidence' to believe everything I see.
but there are some videos so amazing, fake or not, it's tough not to want to believe in them ;o)

Re Ghost Adventures.
I love those guys too. Unlike the GH guys who have gotten stale and boring, the GA guys somehow manage to still make it entertaining. and if even 60% of their evidence is real, catch better things too.

The Problem I have with GA is their belief system. 'Zack' is way over the top and far too much into the weird, macabre and negative. If you watch the first episode, they are like totally different guys to where they are now in the hollywood days.

I think the most grounded one was nick, and he mysteriously left.

The other thing I find odd about the GA guys is, all this brand new equipment they are field testing magically works the first time they use it ;o).

If it's NOT TV Trickery, I particularly find the spirit box and SLS camera interesting ideas.

The other thing that makes GA superior of GH these days is the editing.you could picture GH's in your head as the audio plays, so you don't even really need to see the visuals anymore. they drive up, walkie talkie the situation. meet biz owner. shake hands. talk...shake hands, leave. setup, investigate.. thirty minutes of 'did you hear that?' evidence reveal, and show over.

The GA guys have a better sense of showman ship. which sadly also leaves some of their evidence more questionable i think.

doesn't make it less fun though :)

I was looking at the steps footage again.

Has anyone been able to find this mansion listed online, i wonder?

If other people have recorded this hologram, i wonder what the 'real' hologram looks like.

If it's the same thing, maybe it's not the footsteps he's referring to, but more like the lights flickering?

Yep, that was the one.
.

Well, I feel like an idiot.

The Top 5's video kid didn't explain his video all that well. he did mention the hologram walking down a set of stairs..but then he played the WHOLE video, like what he caught wasn't a hologram. He should have just cut to the phone going wonky. which isn't very paranormal at all.

Sigh. they DO have some good videos on top 5 regarding this stuff.

But this one not so much.
And i got so excited too... smh

These are always fun...Believe well yes...if you are religious you've got to believe...As of myself....when you Daugther, Wife and both of your Dogs experience something unexplained in your own house...you believe that there is something else out there....Daughter had to start closing her door at night to keep the ghost out,Wife would wake and see a ghost standing next to the bed, then at the same time both my Golden and Blacklab started sleeping on my side of bed....things were found moved....music box from attic ....and then the new Paint can in the living room that looked like someone had stood on it or kicked the side of it in.....Believe yes I do....

I'm not religious, but we've had mostly poltergeist possibles happen.

The most obvious one being an iron getting thrown 3 feet at around 12AM when there was only two people in the house. one was asleep.. I was working on 3D stuff (I get on a roll when the house is quiet!)

Other things, A Chocolate milk bottle somehow wound up in the glasses cabinet when it was under neath it before. I was the only one in the house.

Our VERY heavy shed door somehow SLAMMED shut at 8PM. It took me a while to figure out what the noise was. there was only a light wind that day, and it doesn't close easily because it hits dirt at the bottom and you do have to force it.

The latest odd occurance was my alarm clock going off at odd hours of the night. despite not being set for the alarm to be on. Three times it happened at least, it would go off, I'd wake up. the instant i set foot on the floor to turn it off, it stopped. once a malfunction. three or more times? eahc time the alarm was set for off, and what the alarm time was set for (6AM) was never the time it went off at random. I eventually got creeped out by it andthrew it out just in case it was a malfunction :)

i dunno.

the propblem with finding ghost videos on the web is like the video above. don't know what could be real, and what is faked.

His wife had a baby, so he left the show to be a dad.

the way they didn't even mention it, you'd think he left badly.

he's got another show on too.

Since it's in the spirit of the month and all, not a video but I'll tell you about an experience I had 2 years ago. I can't remember what month it happened in(wasn't October though).

I find myself in the same vein as @Axltol when it comes to "belief". I had a deeply religious upbringing but have little to do with it if anything now.

Anyways....

Wife was out for the evening and myself and my 3 kids were playing the Xbox 360 together and all of us at the same time, in the back living room. The front door opens directly to the front living room and the stairway that goes up to the 2nd floor is right there, just past that is the hallway that leads to the back living room. I have 3 dogs and all three were in the room with us. Out of nowhere, my front door opens and slams shut and we hear footsteps run up our stairs to the second floor. ALL SEVEN(me + 3 kids + 3 dogs) of us, jump, turn and look back at the hallway that leads to the front. I went to the front and called upstairs for my wife. After two attempts without a response, my concern for an intruder kicks in and I proceed to clear the 2nd story of my house, keeping the kids in the back living room. If you expect me to say I found nothing, you're absolutely correct. I found nothing and we never heard the sound again.

that's what they call 'just passing through' in the ghost show world as I recall.

even stuff in our house happens once maybe every three months. or less. nothing feels evil, just surprising.
