There was an AI-cleaned photo on facebook today, and I thought of this thread. pulling Halliwax's ANH photo first

AI cleaning tends to make images worse in my opinion. Low quality images are still low quality, just smeared all over after an AI pass.

Yeah, I asked AI to alter my Han In Carbonite project’s lighting in a photo and it produced an image with the real Harrison Ford partly frozen in carbonite.

We’ve tried upscaling other known photos to try to discern detail on props. Ultimately the ai aspect is taking guesses at refining detail, and in turn makes hard ‘decisions’ which are not anything we can or should apply. Its fun, but it can really screw up our ability to discern whats happening in that detail. In many cases, yeah- its actually counter productive even though it makes it look more defined

What a great discussion! That dark photo was the one I found and it looked monochrome or smoothed over so it was a guess on my part lol you can see the lever though!

I loved how it was at the same angle as the “umbrella” shot of the V2
