Ok another project ive been working on. I got this resin Hal-9000 Faceplate kit off ebay. It was a horrible casting and ive spent forever trying to putty and sand it. I finally gave up on filling all of the service inperfections as it seemed almost impossible to get them all, everytime I thought they were all filled once I sanded and primed more would show up. So I gave it about 4-5 light coats of a satin black and got the edges with 2-3 coats of Aluminum. I still need to paint the center ring and the speaker grill as well as the iris. I have drilled a 1/3" hole in the center for a super bright Red LED I rigged up. I have just finished cutting a dome for the iris and have not gotten to sand it or prep it yet. Any comments. This is still a work in progress and I would like to build a console display of somekind around it so its still very much a WIP. And if anyone knows where to get a really nice Hal Faceplate please let me know.
