HAL 9000 from Moebius

Hi all!
I don't have a lot of free time these days to work on personal projects. I'm usually working on Boba Fett helmet commissions.
But I picked up the HAL 9000 kit from Moebius recently, and it wound up being a really quick build.
It's a 1:1 scale replica of the HAL faceplate and has 5 pieces in gray styrene, 2 clear domes, a pre-wired LED, and 4 decals.

There was barely any prep to speak of. Just sanding down a couple of tiny sprue points on the clear domes and the speaker grille. Then it was all paint and decals.

I based everything in Vallejo black primer.

The main body and inner lens piece got a shot of Tamiya semi gloss black, then things were masked and the "metal" areas got a coat of Tamiya aluminum. The speaker grille was done in a darker gunmetal shade.
I hand painted the lettering on the base with a 10/0 brush.
The decals went on nicely. There's the main HAL 9000 name plate, and two decals that go around the lens body.
Total build time was about two days.

I really like the way it came out. I'd like to hang it on a wall somewhere, but not sure if Mrs. Superjedi would approve, lol.
The red LED looks perfect in person, although I can't help feeling like I'm being watched....;)

I second this, would love to get a metal ring as well.
I had an idea, maybe a stepping ring? Those adapters rings to attach filters and lenses for cameras, they usually are made of aluminium painted black, perhaps sanding off the paint....?
