hair installation

I resently aquired a prop in dire need of some hair. Its foam filled latex and I was wondering if anyody knows the name of the tool used to punch the hair into said prop? Also where to aquire such an instrument.

Well you need to get a sewing needle, and grind of the top edge to make a fork or a prong, then buy a pin vice stick the needle in, and you are ready to punch hair

I think FXsupply.com sells completed ones if you don't want to build one.

On the punching process, I'd recommend grabbing Tom Savini's book "Grand Illusions Book II", which has a nice section on the technique.

Try looking on e-bay for rooting needles , rooting tools or reborn baby supplies, you should be able to pick up some mohair from reborn suppliers as well. surf for a "reborning" tutorial for all the info on how to achieve a 'natural' look.I'ts a lot of fun but mind your fingers.
