Gutenberg Bible Project (Pics Added)

I'm typing as much as my schedule will allow, but I should be done my chunk some time in August sometime (When my schedule finally releases me from its vice-like grip).

I hope that's not too late, but apparently I'm a popular guy when it comes to work...and in these times a few extra bucks in my pocket go a long ways.

I've been working a lot too (6 days a week), but still working on the pages... I'll try to get more done soon... It will be cool when all the peices are together !!

Absolutely! No worries, there's no set date on this, just want to keep tabs. :)

It will be a sight to see that's for sure!

List is full again! :D

If anyone else is interested in joining let me know and I'll put you on the waiting list.

I'm still working through mine. Got a transfer I've had my eye on for some time at work, so I'm learning a pile of new stuff there, but I work on this when I have a chance.

They have a reprint of the Gutenberg Bible for $99.00 at Barnes & Noble.
Comes in it's own wooden box.

I'm sat at home with a broken leg in plaster and have got hours to fill, I've been making stuff for years but only found this forum recently,
I'll go on the waiting list too in case theres a space! :)

Wow. Even with all the people and modern technology involved, this is still a heckuva project.

I took a print media course in high school and our teacher decided that we should start at the beginning; with hand laid lead type. We even got to cast some of our own. Whee! There was sweat, blood, inky hands and one page at a time coming from the hand cranked cast iron behemoth of a press we used.

I can tell you, Guttenberg and his crew worked hard!

From there we learned about offset and eventually electronic media. Cool stuff. Best of luck with the project!

I can't find it. Can you post a link? At that price I can guarantee it's not a proper full size replica but I'd like to see it...
Well, all your guarantees aside, I held a copy in my hands, but it was over two years ago. I'll try to get back to the store where it was ASAP and try to get some pictures.

THis project has to be one of the most gargantuan undertakings Ive ever seen in regards to a paper prop.
Hats off to all of you, and Orange Blend for putting this all together.
Cant wait to see the finished project.

BTW, Orange Blend....What's your next project?? *cough* Book of Kells *cough*

As I said, interested to see it. I searched and searched and the only actual proper reproduction I found was this:

http://www.greatsite.com/facsimile-reproductions/gutenberg-1455.html

There are plenty of reprints, some quite nice and large. But none I have seen are accurate reproductions. Look forward to your pics.
