Cool. Thanks for the info guys. I believe I have the correct troll doll to match the one shown next to the tape deck. I would say the one that Yondu ends up with at the end is definitely different. The scale is all off. Even though It's supposed to be the same doll, they had to go with a smaller one to get it to fit in the orb. The face looks similar, but I don't think they actually made one with that face in the 3" size. The body looks a little different too. There might be a little CGI trickery involved there. I'd like to have both sizes, but right now I'm just looking to get the correct outfit. I actually have some vintage material that looks perfect. Also have the same shirt in a different material, so I can probably pull a pattern from that. Not sure how difficult it would be to sew though. Might not be worth it. I'll post pics soon.

One note guys, i was going to use the blu ray menu for checking measurements of the tape deck, but i realized that was done is post and the production people will make stuff fit thr tv screen ratio and not care about being accurate, the same holds true for the sound track cover image, i found the buttons were stretched down for fit the art. There is however about two to three shots in the movie and i think one of them is straight on. I haven't pulled screen caps yet.
Soulinertia, i agree about the two different sized trolls but if you watch the movie, you will notice that the trolls hair is actually longer than the trapping orb, when Yondu opens it the hair pops past the covers, i also wondered if there was some digital help there. There is some scene where you see the troll in the bag and one scene where it is floating around in space.
also i have yet to see anyone building a trapping orb or what the size is, but i wanted to build one also.

Yeah, i thought the hair popping out of the orb looked digital too. I think the outer diameter of that orb is 4".
I couldn't find the scene with the troll in the bag, but it does make a few appearances throughout the film. Here are some screen caps I took for everyone's reference (You can clearly tell it's two separate troll dolls/sizes):
I just took a couple detail shots, but I didn't get the whole thing. I wish the blu-ray didn't have that stupid pop up in the corner.
I got one! I think it's exact.
I would say the one in the orb is a mix of practical and digital effects. I think they had a real troll in a partial orb, then changed the face, hair and rest of the retractable parts of the orb with CGI.

Sweet you got one. I had some home issues come up and am out of commission on a few projects until I get it sorted out. Note that the fabric on the shirt may be the same a plaid handkerchiefs, I have a red and blue one and the scale is really close. I thought about making some shirts, but it not worth the time.
Same as Coop, bought two, but the other just had the wrong hair color.
I think they scanned and printed the one in the orb, that is why it is that weird matt texture, they just printed it a smaller scale.
The floating one looks like the eyes move as a gag.

I had to buy a few different trolls to put this one together as well.
I went ahead and sewed up a shirt. The material is gray, I'd say it's a closer match to the color of the orb troll's shirt. I forgot to taper the collar, so it's a little different, but not bad for a first attempt right? Took me about an hr to cut and sew.

Same here! I had this little guy within a week of the movie release, but wasn't positive he was correct!
Got it, I think its right. The hair is not as dark as the first one but I think color grading on the movie may make it a touch different
EDIT:
I took a different angled picture kinda at teh same angle as Soulinertia and changed the lighting source to try to get a better capture on the color and this is what I got with my phone.
