So I am a first time builder, and proud father of six, who wanted to put together an ensemble of characters with my kiddos. I have posted a few pictures of the ideas I came up with, as well as minor tweaks on some of the great ideas I learned from fellow RPFers. Thanks to everyone who helped and answered a ton of questions for me!
ROCKET

From there, I got to work on the mask...
As you probably know, the mask is a basic, two dimensional plastic face. I began to cut up a fur coat (Goodwill) and apply this to the plastic mask using spray adhesive....

It starts to take shape quickly!!

I used a rabbit mask (goodwill) and cut up fur from it to accent the eyebrows. Then painted the fur black around the eyes....

Then on to the feet.....
for this I used some sandals.....and applied some EVA foam to the toes to extend the feet. I then painted shower curtain rings black, cut them, sharpened them, and applied them to the foam...

After applying the fur (from the sleeves of the Goodwill fur coat, and the bunny mask) you can see they take shape nicely. I just used spray adhesive to apply the fur...

Here he is!!!! Just added a turret (Goodwill) and painted it black......

On to Groot!
pics forthcoming!
GROOT
ROCKET
- for my rocket build, my son Karlen quickly volunteered. He is 5 and fell in love with Rocket instantly. I started with the base costume that you can easily find online.

GROOT
- for Groot, my son Brady took this character. He is 12 years old, and only about 57" tall. We decided to incorporate drywall stilts encased in tomato cages into this costume, getting him to about 7'. I used the basic Groot build principles made famous by some of you awesome RPFers....Thank you!
