Groot Head for display -From a beginner

[Super Dad]

I'm nearing completion of my sons' Super Hero bedroom and my oldest son (5) has begun to have an obsession with the Groot and Rocket after seeing the Guardians trailer and getting the Free Comic Day book.

I had zero experience with anything like this, but having looked at enough projects around here, I figured I could maybe try cobble something together. I want to touch it up a bit, but so far, I don't think it turned out too bad.

I started with crafting foam and then covered it with plaster wrap. I let it dry for a few days and gave it a good sanding and then took a rotary tool with a cutting circle and cut some grooves to simulate the effect of the bark and then painted it with a rattle can.

I haven't felt comfortable enough to share anything I've been working on, since everybody makes such amazing stuff around here. However, I am pretty happy with how it turned out and hope I can maybe inspire some other beginners to share.

I think It's a fantastic first piece. what did you use for the eye's? and I'm betting your son loved It...
