Grindhouse - Death Proof Hood Ornament

Went to see this movie today and if you're a car guy there's no doubt that the blacked out 1971 Chevy Nova stole the show. (Though the pocket bike was a close second. :) )

What the hell was that hood ornament? The group I went with could not reach a consensus. We had varying reports, from a duck, to a bull dog, to a horse.

Its a duck.I looked up Duck Hood Ornament on EBay after seeing the movie today, and several pieces came up from the same seller .They look great but seam a bit high to me.He states that they were on a semi in the movie Convoy.
Hope this helps,Doug

Eavii (Sorry Doc, if that's not how you spell it) at the DFW prop party had a replica of it. Might try contacting him to see if he'd share pics (or they may have some in the party thread).

Those who attended the Dallas prop party got to se one up close- It's a really nice cast- Couldn't find a Nova in time for the premiere though-

I emailed the guy and he said that they sold 9 nickel plated and 2 gold plated ducks to the production company.

Got this baby in the mail today. Flawless.
Now I need to find the car.

Thanks for the Rubber Duck heads-up guys, I got mine from John at Billings Artworks this morning - flawless quality casting & chroming and a friendly guy to deal with.

Okay, some people have the Duck and not the car. I now find myself in the situation of having the car, and not the Duck.

Now, I have a slight problem with this. I don't really want to buy the Duck, until I figure out how to get around said problem. So here goes...
The Nova has a V-shaped ridge running down the center of the hood. I'm going to guess that the bottom of the Duck is flat. That begs the question, how would I attach this thing without majorly screwing up my hood?
Drilling a few holes is fine by me, but cutting out a hunk of the hood isn't. I was thinking of machining a shim to fit the ridge, but I dont think the studs on the duck are long enough for that. I don't really know.

So could someone maybe, post how long the studs are? Or any ideas they might have?

I think the one in the movie was welded to the hood. If you watch closely at during the crash scene, the sucker doesn't so much as move; not even after the car flips and skids across the road.
Though, I may have a source to ask about how the Duck is attached on film car.
I imagine whatever I do, will involve machining of something or another.

Pre-Grindhouse, I believe they were $85. Why not just grind out an upside down 'V' in the base of the duck? Provided it doesn't chip and mess up the chrome plating.
