I totally agree with you General. If they do this movie right it will blow Iron Man out of the water, and I loved Iron Man.

How much you wanna bet that once this movie rocks at the box office, Marvel starts scammering around trying to figure out what property they own even comes close to Green Lantern.
My bet is that the eventual success of GL will lead to a serious attempt by Marvel to do a Silver Surfer film.

That would be Nova sir. The latest volume is an EXCELLENT read if you're into sci-fi. Guardians of the Galaxy as well, nothing like a psychic cosmonaut dog and a raccoon with a giant gun.

Oh man, a Nova movie based on Adi Granov's designs would rock!

I wish Granov could've designed the GL stuff. I prefer a sleek futuristic feel over the organic look.

I think the closest thing to GL that Marvel has is Quazar.(I think that's how it was spelled) It still doesn't hold a candle to GL. The ring looks way cooler than Quazars bracelets any day.

The reason I say Nova is because there's a Nova Corps, though Quasar is popping up in both Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy since they brought him back.

Yes, but you see, there's one essential problem with Nova that makes him inappropriate for the big screen: His secret identity. He literally has the gayest sounding name in all of superhero comics! Richard "D I C K" Rider! :lol

I can just imagine the scene in the movie when his name is said aloud for the first time. I'm imagining an entire theater auditorium simultaneously erupting in fits of laughter! :lol

They would probably change his name.But back to the ring my favorite has always been the one that Kyle has.

Does anyone think that the members of the GL corps will all have identical rings?

I'm betting the rings will all share a central design but the size/proportions of the ring will be different to accomidate each species' hand.
I would imagine that Killowog's ring would be rather large and may call for an altered design.
From a marketing standpoint, it would be wise to incorperate many variations in ring design - you can sell more products that way

If they stick to the basic story of the first draft script, then Sinestro will still be a 'good guy' by the end of the film.
I am suspecting they are deliberately holding off on turning him bad until the second or third film - which is a wise choice. To build up towards his turn to evil would be much more dramatic over the course of two movies rather than one.
The yellow element WILL have a role in the first movie and we will see a hint of Sinestro's desire for the power of the yellow element.

I hope not. This is the plot of First Flight, and it wasn't exactly a great representation of the basic story. I don't think we'll see a "yellow element" because we already know that Parallax will be making an appearance.

I've read the first draft script and I can safely say it is lightyears better than the story used for "First Flight".
Unlike First Flight, Hal's origin is not rushed - nor does Sinestro turn evil far too early - as a matter of fact, Sinestro is a really great character in the movie script I read with only a VERY tiny hint that he COULD turn bad.
The yellow element I speak of is the advesary in the script - LEGION. When it is discovered that an enemy using yellow energy has killed a Lantern, Sinestro implors to the guardians that if such a power exists, then the Corpse must weild it too. That is the only hint of his future aspirations.
I feel as long as the basics are kept from the first draft, we will be getting a very fun movie that really does the modern GL comics justice.
I have a copy of the first draft if you would like to read it, but don't know how to go about posting it....

If Parallax is being brought in this early I would expect Sinestro won't be turning until at least the second flick. I'd be surprised to learn that they're not going to include the Weaponers of Qward since they are such a huge element of the universe, so if they're skipping straight to Parallax that probably means they're planning on Sinestro being the big bad in the sequel.

Now if the Guardians banished Sinestro halfway through the flick I'd expect to see him go full villain, but putting Parallax on screen (a largely hated element of the Emerald Twilight storyline and it's consequences) they would almost have to skip to the Sinestro Corps storyline pretty quickly or risk people losing interest.

True that! At this point I don't care whether it's the classic signet, a block of crystal, or a stale marshmallow; I just want a good look at the bloody thing!
