Green Lantern Movie Ring

Very cool heads up on the figure pre-order. Does anyone know if the ring will detach from the base, or if it is actually part of the base? If it detaches, that would be awesome!

The pre-order is sold out but im sure they will still be available to pick up in stores

I wonder how many they put up for pre-order? It's supposed to be a limited edition of 2,814 figures, in honor of Hal Jordan being the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814.

i havent read anything on how many they put up for pre-order. i know some people that work for mattel i will ask around and see what i can find out

it looks like the ring you can get for 10 bucks every where, just a green face and a stone in the middle.

i hate that ring. and i hate having to get it now.

I just read the older posts again...Classic case of prejudice IMO. :)

Toys'R'Us.com just sent me an e-mail canceling my order. I know I got the order in with plenty of time to spare -- the figure was available for another day or so -- and there is nothing wrong with my credit card, so.... Has this happened to anybody else? And if not, did you happen to order an extra? :(

Everyone is getting theirs cancelled due to a manufacturer delay. No idea when we'll be able to re-order them again. :unsure

Swell. Just swell.

Thanks for the information. I really do appreciate it; it's always nice to know what's going on.

Why don't they just hold our orders?? I would much rather wait than have to run the risk of missing out on the figure and ring when, for once in my life, I actually made it in on time!!! Toys'R'Us just joined Mattel on my short list of companies with whom I just HATE to deal.

Maybe we'll never see this exclusive come to fruition.

So what was this move all about? Did they seell too many preorders and decided to start all over again with a smaller preorder number?

They re-offered it last week!

So what was this move all about? Did they seell too many preorders and decided to start all over again with a smaller preorder number?

And they re-canceled it again.

Mattel says on their official site that there were quote/unquote "production problems" that would prevent them from making the Feb. 25th release date. They did not specify what those problems were. With Mattel, who the hell knows? They rarely offer concrete information and seem to much prefer offering you a song-and-dance instead. It could have been anything from overbooking the preorder, to not getting all the likeness approvals in, or to the ring being made out of arsenic and lead. Mattel's spokesguy on their forum, "ToyGuru" then added that Toys'R'Us jumped the gun on the offering and should not have put the toy up on the website so soon. Well, which is it? Production problems or the retailer jumping the gun on the date? And neither Mattel nor TRU explain why our preorders had to be canceled. I would have accepted a delay cheerfully rather than have to order it again.

Latest word from the ToyGuru is that TRU has the OK to offer the toy again sometime after Feb. 1st for a March delivery. It is still limited to a run of 2,814 and will be one per customer.
