Man is it getting slammed! Superherohype.com and Aint it Cool news, so far, 3 bad reviews from AICN.. Not looking too hopeful. I Guess I'll be passing on this. I'll wait for it on cable. I was really hoping it would be good.

I'm still planning to check it out tomorrow myself. I stopped reading one review the other day when they made a positive comment about the Green Hornet :lol and I stopped in the middle of one yesterday when they said it was confusing :lol

I dunno... it might not be all I hoped for but I think it's still going to be a fun movie. I just went to see X-Men last night and it was sort of the same way... it wasn't what I wanted it to be (i.e. a "first class" based on the original comic lineup) but I still liked it pretty well.

I've gotten to where I don't even trust fan-reviewers these days. If it's something I was planning to see, I'm going to see it anyway and judge for myself. Comic book movies are about the only thing I go to the theater for anymore anyway and there's usually only a handful of those a year even though everybody complains about the supposed "glut" of them.

To each his own...

I tend to not believe reviews either. There is one thing that has proven to be right, to me anyhow, in my own sampling. That is, whenever the ad campaign goes balls out for nearly two months ahead of time, the studio doesn't think it's going to do well. The ramp up the ad dollars and try and get a huge opening week one and be done with it.

I've seen about 10x as many GL ads as any other moving this year. Not a good sign in my book. I hope it turns out to be good, but i'm not holding my breath at this point.

I can't stand Ryan. That aside, nothing in the trailers has drawn me into even being curious about this one. I hope there is something for the faithful, but it doesn't sound good.

I'd have to turn in my Geek Card if I didn't go see this at the theater, so they're going go get my money... but I'd be lying if I said that I had high hopes for this one. The casting, the costume, the villian... everything in the trailer screams missed opportunity!

If the reviews are fairly consistent, listen to them. Don't go! You'll save yourself valuable time and money. (And now I'm off to solve world hunger...)

I agree, between rotten tomatoes and people I value, I can usually save myself heartache. I know what I like and do not like though, I'll ignore a consensus either way as well sometimes based on what I know about myself, but that isn't too often.

Hopefully this will be the end of the smirky comedian as a Hero. From what I've seen they goof it up as much as possible, then be 'heroic' for a few minutes at the end, just like the Green Hornet.

And I don't like Ryan either. I didn't realize he was that guy from Blade 3 until a few weeks ago.

Looking at the trailers and commercials, it kind of reminded me of the Fantastic Four movies... :/

To not give it a chance in the theater is just stupid.

I guess when you grew up begging for movies like this, and aren't spoiled by getting them every few months, you have different perspective.

The trailer alone turned me off.

At best for me it is a rental........and even then maybe.

Now, if Hollywood stays true to form in three years we get a reboot!

They're probably already in a panic mode based on all the bad reviews and even as we speak are in some board room, already planning the inevitable "reboot"

Yeah, I gotta agree with this sentiment.

As for me, I distinctly remember trips to the comic book store with my brother 30 years ago and wishing we would one day get to see an X-Men movie.

Granted, not all of these live-action movies are as good as others (I found the Green Hornet to be about the worst of the lot but I've never been a fan of the character) but generally speaking, superhero movies are still my favorite type of film.

I'm used to people hating the stuff I like so I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see the hate even among fans like us...

If it's not one of the big 3, what are the chances that the reviewers are familiar with the character, let alone the source material.
I saw a sneak preview. I was entertained. My neighbor is a big GL fan and a hater of all things Ryan Reynolds....he liked the movie.
The only major thing I know of that isn't comic cannon is the bad guy's origin.

I will say, whomever cut the trailer pulled the wrong audio track for the oath. I was worried he'd go Christian Bale with his voice.

I'm agreeing with micdavis on this one.

My wife got us tickets to see it tomorrow at the fancy smancy theater near us where you get a bed to lay on as opposed to a traditional seat as a early fathers day gift. I am looking forward to it.

It most likely will not be good but I am looking forward to it nonetheless. I trust movie critics as much as a rattlesnake in my bed, so their opinion means less than nothing to me.

This has been my favorite comic since I was 10 or so. In my mind a Green Lantern movie is better than no Green Lantern movie.

Slightly OT but has anyone watched Emerald Nights yet? I have not had a chance to go pick it up.
