GotG Groot (Slight Spoiler Alert)

Having just watched the film, I'm filled with a bit of awkward inspiration. I feel I need to ask, anyone else thinking about making a tiny dancing potted plant Groot?

I've had a few Ideas, which I'll flesh out while I'm on holiday, next week, but I definitely want to have a go. However I wouldn't be surprised if an "official" one turns up fairly soon...too cute not to

I thought I was the only one! I was thinking of using Sculpey to make Groot's little body, but I probably couldn't make it dance.

Lol, good I'm not just crazy. I swear I've seen dancing tree toys before. Was going to do some research into that and potentially gut one for a base

Just got back from the movie and came online specifically looking for references of the little guy haha So far no luck though I bought a plant pot so it's a start!

Edit: Found a low quality video on Youtube for now and took some screencaps of the little dancing Groot, hope that helps those that want to make him. Not sure what I'll be making him out of yet!

First thought I had leaving the theatre! After chuckling over the post credits sequence that is.

My wife has been talking about it ever since. They have to build one right? They'd be throwing money away if that wasn't part of the merchandising plan. I'm just not sure I can wait that long.

The internals might be a bit big for a really good Groot sapling but I could see one of these modded into a pot.

So, no dancing, but I did make this last night from foam and Worbla. Just a WIP still needs eyes, paint and pot.

I wasn't happy with the proportions and lack of detail in the face so I reworked it with Apoxie Sculpt. Liking this one much better.

I actually am. I changed it, my older son was going to be groot, but we all decided to make him ronan the accuser instead, just so I can have my 5 year old son who is rocket carry him around. I have an idea, ill let you know if it works

Wow same idea we had with the dancing flower, but we were gonna try with the solar powered ones. We bought one to mess with, trying to figure out how strong it is. Don't want to weight the arms too much.
