Hi!
I know there are a lot of these by now, but I still wanted to make a thread of my own. Its pretty much my first cosplay, besides a Stormtrooper-kit, and that deserves a thread! Also having a thread will probably help keep me motivated.
My goal with this project is NOT 100% movie accuracy, but to learn. And to have fun of course!
I've spent most of my life in front of the computer so almost everything is new to me, down to using sandpaper and painting! I will appreciate all tips and pointers!
So! Lets get started!
Helmet
I printed Helagaks helmet on my 3D printer and I'm know in the process of sanding and fitting all the parts. After that I plan to put some bondo on some details and use a lot of filler primer to smooth things out. Since my goal is to learn I want to have a go at molding and casting it. I've been looking at Mold-Max 30 and Smooth-Cast 65D.
Here is a picture of the helmet yesterday when I test fitted it. It seems to fit my head well.
Jacket
Ordered from fjackets. Should arrive any day. Just hopes it fits!
Shirt and pants
Boring answer: don't know yet. Will probably just find something that looks close enough. Maybe try to modify pants if possible.
Belt
Might try to do something out of clay. I have a friend who is great with clay, maybe he could teach me the basics so I could make the buckle.
MorbidCharlie made an awesome looking belt and I might try doing something similar to him.
Shoes
I'll get the Skechers from Amazon and some leather and try making something that looks like the movie.
Gun
3D print from Helagaks file, same as the helmet.
Walkman
Since the Walkmans are so expensive on Ebay I thought it would be fun to make my own and print. I'm new to 3D modeling so this is a big challenge for me. Again, I'm not going for 100% accuracy, but just something that looks good with my costume. I also thought it would be fun if I could fit my iPhone in there.
I'm far from done, but here is was I got so far:
So far pretty happy with it, and with three parts like that it should print well on my 3D printer. The big part and the side will be glued while the top will be a lid for the iPhone. Buttons will be printed separate.
That's what I got so far. I will post updated when I have some. And please, I would love all feedback, good as bad. Pointers, tips and tricks and so on!
Thanks!
