Gold teeth, how to?

I want to do a few gold teeth for my pirate costume. How has anyonee achieved this?
I already tried the $3.00 metal, clamp on, halloween store crap, now I need some real advice.

Well how much are you willing to spend? Go have them done professionally. :D Basically what I had done for my sparrow outfit. Although I did know someone. If you were to make a mold of your teeth. Sculpt the cap on top in wax, then remove it. Make a mold out of something that you could pour molten metal into ( I THINK a soapstone mold like hydrocal or ultra cal would work.), then melt out the wax, pour in the metal and bam. Not too sure if that'd be worth everything though...

There is also gold makeup but that doesn't work so well..

Well If you have accsess to a vac form machine you could do it the way it was done in POTC. All the teeth were vac formed and painted with dental paints.

As a matter of fact, I do have dental impressions of my upper and lower teeth for my whitening trays. No w just need to find a vac former and dental paint.

Can you make an extra dental tray?
Seems like you could cut it to cover a few teeth, with the painted one included...

Can't say that I've ever heard of "dental paint". But, I'm not a lab tech. However, I do have access to a vacuumforming machine and could do the work with the casts. I'm not too sure how good it will come out though.

I believe Sithcamaro sent his dental impressions to gangstagold.com (or something like that) if I remember right. Said it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 per tooth.

Are you working on a Flavor Flav replica?

:lol
Nope. Doing the whole pirate inspired costume. I think I might try the spirit gum and foil technique. Might work well.

pretty much seems to be nail polish,

On a recent episode of mythbusters one of the crew put some gold leaf over their teeth......you can buy that at most craft stores for a few bucks...obviously you would want to check the packaging to make sure it was no toxic.....When she did that it looks real shiny and gold looked like a pro made rapper grill lol

Well technically if you were to leaf it, then that'd work. I mean isn't gold leaf used on real fancy schmancy chocolates?

you can buy edible gold, which might wind up being a bit different than gold leaf youd get at miachels or wherever, id check the package to be sure,

Thanks mez. I ordered some of this stuff. Should work great.
I thought of gold leaf, but wasn't sure how quick it would wear off. I don't want to carry a make up/fix it kit all night unless I have to.

All this talk of painting your teeth sounds kinda scary. I don't think gold leaf would be a good idea, I doubt the adhesive or the shellac are non-toxic. Might leave a bad taste in your mouth at least. And how do you remove it when you're done? Guess you could just gargle with turpentine.

I'd say use a dremel or some sort of power drill aparatus. But be carefull... Don't wreck your tools on your face. :p
