'Godzilla' Roar Analysis: The King of Monsters' New Sound
So what does everyone think now?
Godzilla seems to be the one movie reboot getting universal love from fans – and not without good reason. The official teaser trailer managed to drum up more interest in the film than the entire barrage of Amazing Spider-Man 2 footage Sony keeps releasing; we were so impressed that we named Godzilla our most anticipated movie of 2014.
As this new vision of the kaiju monster movie cult-classic comes our way (courtesy of Monsters director Gareth Edwards), Legendary Pictures has done a very careful job of not giving away too much – including the details about the titular King of Monsters himself. We know he will be really, really, big (see here) and that he will retain classic details like his atomic breath and signature roar – the latter of which you can now hear for yourself!
That’s right: thanks to Legendary Pictures we now have the new Godzilla roar to share!

For comparison, here are the Godzilla roars which preceded this one:
The version that Gareth Edwards and company came up with sounds like the more elongated (almost hilariously so?) sound of the monster from the 1984 film – with some late ’90s/early 00′s Godzilla thrown in for good measure. In short: the new roar could fairly be described as an homage mashup of the roars that came before it – which, if true, would be a nice hat-tip from the filmmakers, saying that they both respect the source material and the hardcore fans (some of whom will definitely have discerning ears when it comes to this battle cry).
That kind of knowledge and devotion is what fans tend to hope for (okay, demand) from those re-imagining their favorite properties and characters – but let’s let the official votes tell the tale of how fans feel about this new Godzilla roar:

I can say this about the Empire cover-this Godzilla looks like they mixed the 2000 version with the original 1954 with a few hints of the 60's and 70's stirred in,really impressive.
Next he does sound right,in fact I think he sounds perfect real enough and long enough to make an old fan feel all warm and fuzzy
I don't recall the 1998 version making much if any noise besides not looking at all like Godzilla.
Now let's hope the story is good,one thing that killed a lot of Gojira's films was the story,the Japanese range from great to horrid and everything inbetween I always say the best films were the first two,the "reboot" in '84,the all out attack version (white eyes) and that's it the rest are fun but can be a bit irritating to sit through or all out cheese.

The roar is recognizable as Godzilla no question there at all.
In a good theater, I hope they make it so loud it rattles your teeth out.

Aviation gripe..... the helicopter blades in the cover art should be tilted upwards as in flight. Not down like sitting on the ground.

So wait, the trailer is saying Godzilla was already like that to begin with and they woke him up accidently so they were nuking him to kill him? That's different.............

It's probably another Godzilla they killed,or found dead.
This damn film not only feels like a Godzilla movie it feels like a remake of the original 1954 movie! I guess Toho put their chips on this for the big G's 60th anniversary.
Consider my ticket sold.

If only all reboots could look and feel this glorious. And it seems the overwhelming vibe I'm getting is pure approval from everyone on the boards. Which is good. Time to wrangle up the stragglers so this can become a box office smash!
And I'm reading alot of interesting ideas on why the paratroopers are being deployed. It seems obvious in the trailer that the airplanes are falling out of the sky due to some sort of EMP related powers. And Muto seems to be the name for the insect like creatures. Maybe the Muto are preventing any electronics from operating inside the city with these powers?

Wonder what the name of the Puff Daddy song will be for this movie. Also, I wonder if Taco Bell will get the rights to put him on their cups again. Lol.
Saying they woke it up and were trying to nuke it in the 50's makes glorious sense if you are a fan,they even mention the year 1954 which IS Godzilla's birth year (the first movie) and a little twist on his origin i.e. the nuke tests woke him up and mutated him now it's we woke something up and tried to kill it via the nuke "tests"
Everything I'm seeing is good,very good so far and I think and pray it's gonna be THE film for his 60th and gives us an update on the first movie and what it was truly meant to be-a sci-fi horror film.
