I have a thread over at the GBfans site but figured some info on this forum couldn’t hurt.

This is my build log for my GB flight suit. Up first is the GBfans suit. Here are all the listed pieces:

-GBfans elbow pads
-GBfans elbow pads
-Dyed GBfans pistol belt
-Leo Challenge Coin No-Ghost patch
-Etsy name patch
-Military surplus chemical gloves
-Rubber leg hose connector from Etsy
-DIY leg hose
-DIY leather MT500 holster
-DIY key fobs
-Modified Spirit Halloween walkie talkie
-Random vintage military boots

Still need to get me a belt gizmo, though.

Recently I got a slightly more accurate suit from EBay. The Nomex CWU for about $25. This suit will also feature a more accurate No-Ghost patch from kind folks of Calgary Ghostbusters

So far I’ve only removed the velcro and left arm pocket flap:

Lastly, I picked up a gold paint pen to color the zippers for a more accurate brass look. I’ll post some more progress later today.

Thanks, this info will be really useful. I've just started putting together my costume and props and trying to keep it accurate as possible.

Hey, ZeroSum thanks for the compliment. The patch came from Hatchapatch out of Arkansas.

For today I was able to complete all the zipper coloring:

I didn’t plan to color the ENTIRE zipper but one thing led to another. Now all the zip pulls AND zipper teeth are colored.

I received a much more screen accurate fob from a member over on the GBfans page:

Waiting for the new No-Ghost patch now. I’ll also get another pistol belt (my dye job was $£!+), leg connector and dye another leg hose.

Cheers

For those wondering here is a side-by-side of the two suits. There’s much more detailed info on the GBfans forum.

GBfans on left/ Nomex on right:

Color, pocket details, and hardware differ. Also the materials are different. The GBfans being a cotton (35%)/ poly (65%) blend.

The Nomex is a “synthetic meta and para-aramid fibers, designed to make the material heat-resistant...”.

Pretty much meaning it’s a much heavier material. The Nomex may be more accurate but in Texas summer heat, I’d much prefer a lighter fabric.

Well, not much work on the suit lately. I’ve been waiting for items to arrive in the mail. Patches, hose connector and belt should all be arriving soon.

I did receive my name patch from Hatchapatch on Etsy. I noticed right away it was slightly different than my first one.

Here is a picture of the two. first patch on top, second patch I received on bottom:

I’m being super picky right now but the bottom patches font is just a little more skinny and not as bold as the one above.

I like the top patch more so I’m taking it off and putting on the Nomex suit. I’ll be sewing that on tonight...probably...maybe...definitely...lol.

For an extra but not related to GB, I (kinda) finished my McFly jacket and vest stand:

Ill shorten the stand and pin the shirts back for a cleaner look. Going in my IKEA fabrikor with other props.

Cheers

Well, with the holidays right around the corner the flight suit has been in limbo. My time is going to work and my money elsewhere, lol.

I had also been waiting for my Calgary Ghostbusters patches to arrive. Which they did sometime last week. Below is an image of the three No-Ghost patches I’ve come across.

-top: Leo Challenge Coin
-middle: Calgary Ghostbusters
-bottom: Etsy seller Hatchapatch

From my reading the Calgary Ghostbusters patch seems to be the most accurate. I really like they make theirs with cotton(felt?). It gives off a nice vintage feel. Prepare to wait a couple weeks if you do order.

I’ll have more to post once my leg connector for the hose comes in. Still need to dye the vinyl tubing and sew everything on.

Hope everyone has a good holiday. Yesterday I finally did some work on my suit.

Sewed the Calgary patch on.

It’s a $%!+ sewing job, but it’ll hold.

I dreaded this because I hate sewing on long sleeves. For whatever reason it didn’t accrue to me to simply roll-up the sleeve on the first suit.

Doing just that made everything so much easier. Highly recommended, lol.

Next I started to work on the leg connector:

As you can see I use a extra piece of fabric on the inside pant leg. It gives the connector a bit of extra strength.

After I cut the fabric I was ready to sew the connector to the pant leg. Long story short, I sewed to the wrong leg, hahah. I forgave myself as it was about 1:00am and I was exhausted at that point.

I’ll have it all finished up later today. I also plan to tackle weathering my GBfans suit. More to come.

Happy new year ladies and gents. Hope everyone survived safely.

I spent my night doing a bit of weather:

Still needing myself a belt gizmo, though. After that my ‘stume will be 100% finished

Hi, what a great idea to use the gold pen! I went and bought myself one and started colouring the zips this evening and then it occurred to me - can the suit be washed with the pen on? Have you tried it?

If i remember correctly it was pretty simple Cameron.

Dissembled the radio, sanded to remove any protective coating, light primer, then used Rust-Oleum texture paint (attachment), and lastly top coated with a satan or flat gray. Lock it all in with a matte clear coat.IMG_2437.jpeg

I don’t really remember where I got the Motorola label but I bet with a bit of googling/searching you could come-up with one.

Hope this helps some. Feel free to PM me with any additional questions you may have.

Awesome and thank you. I've just started on the screen accurate GB1 journey.

Cameron, I made a pattern with paper from images of the original screen used ones.

No real resource that I found. However they’re could be one out there. If anywhere, I’d guess maybe the GBfans forum.
