Ghostbusters Costume WIP

OK time to make another one of my lifelong costume dreams come true. Every since seeing this movie in theaters as a kid I wanted to be a Ghostbuster. I never got around to trying to make it as I was always too busy making horror costume dreams come true for myself and many others as well. So it is tough to find time for such a huge project. I also do not have power tools or a large work area so I held off as I knew that having those would come in handy for making the proton pack, ghost trap, and pke meter.

Unless I made them out of foam. But luckily Mattel released some awesome ghost traps and pke meters and is coming out with night vision goggles. The proton pack is the most difficult and time consuming prop to make if you want it done right. I will probably buy one made by someone who specializes in them as I want it to be durable and have all the lights and sounds. But I might make one for fun if I get time. But regardless it IS GOING TO HAPPEN! 29 years is long enough so it is time to get started! :) It may take a while as I want to do a ton of accessories but I hope to have it done by Spring or Halloween at the latest. But looking forward to starting this HUGE project! I was not sure I could make my Terminator costume either, and m1919a Browning either, and that was very tedious. But deep down I knew I could accomplish anything I put my mind to and I did. So let the build begin! Who ya gonna call?! "Ghostbusters!"

it CAN be a huge undertaking, but your best bet is to head on over to GBfans.com and walk around the boards and download some plans, there are plans available for multiple build styles from found objects to paper, to cardboard and fiberglass. oh and wood lol

I though it would be a huge undtertaking myself, but after going through it slowly ive ended up making 4 packs and a number of traps lol

be sure to check out the flightsuit forum and you will find links to suits, patches, boots and everything else you need.

good luck !

^^^^what he said!

He could always have a go at making a "junk pack" to get you started which is what I did as you can get the majority of the stuff at Home Depot! Look up Gareee's pack on GBfans. Also Studiocreations sells a inexpensive vacuform shell that you could start with!

I'm in the process of making a foam trap which is perfect since all you need are scissors and a glue gun! Good luck!

I make fibreglass shells. I can also take orders for fully finished packs, they aren't cheap though. So much time goes into building a finished pack :)

Yeah I have been a member there and read there for years as I get time, but have little time which is the problem. I have to make costumes for others all the time as I do it for a living, so I will probably buy a proton pack as I knew several who make them on here and other sites. But I do want to make my own "budget one" for fun as I get time. That is my biggest issue is time for personal project due to work and now power tools or a solid work table. I wish I had more work space and power tools as it would be a lot easier. But once I get the proton pack out of the way the rest should be smooth sailing! But so far it is coming along great!

Also scored the awesome 12 inch Matty Collector figures finally!

Some more inspiration just in!
Stay Puft Marshmellow Man "Gozer The Destroyer" Diorama
Wanted this for a long time now and finally got it! Added some custom figures and little cars to the diorama. Ghostbuster are a little big even in 6 inch scale so used some Army guys for now. This is HUGE and it is not even all together yet!

Matty Collector PKE meter with awesome electronic effects. Also a C-Cell Angle Head Flashlight like the video game.

man, i love this forum, Ghostbusters give me this nostalgic feel. Heard they may do a remake?

Ever since I started making this costume I noticed that what little junk I got for a reward for working out so hard was disappearing, and finally found the culprit!

He is eating me out of house and home!

I don't think I've ever seen that Onion Butt before! Hmmm... mind sharing where you got that from? Would be a great addition to my GB collection!
