General Knowledge; How To Make A Fiberglass Mask

Hi everyone. Not sure if this is the correct location for my topic, please move it if I am in the wrong place.

Anyway, I am a long time lurker, and decided I'm interested in getting into the replica prop making hobby.

I have NO idea where to start. I figure something simple enough would be like an Army of Two mask. I know there are TONS of threads on these masks, but I am looking more for general knowledge... where do I start? Like, step by step, and what materials do I use?

From what I think I understand from this site, google, and youtube, it looks like I make a mold of clay (though I don't know if I'm supposed to use a special kind of clay), then I make my fiberglass mask off of this mold.

But I know that is over simplified. What steps do I do, and what supplies do I buy?

If you want to sculpt, I would use oil based clay to sculpt the mask, make a silicone mold, and cast in resin of your choice.

You can get oil based clay elsewhere, I just use these guys a lot.

If you want to pepakura a mask, I can't help. I've never peped anything.
