Gene Simmons Destroyer Costume.

I have always been a fan of KISS and I now want to make a Gene Simmons Destroyer costume, similar to the one he wore on tour in the 70's. In the last couple of hours I have looked around on this forum a bit and am crazy impressed with what you guys can do. All I really need help with for this costume is are boots and armor.

I've seen them on eBay abut I don't know how good they are. Besides, I would rather make the costume from scratch. I was looking at a Wookie costume thread and Have some ideas on how to make the boots. Thank you though.
