GenderSwap Jon Bernthal Punisher - Daredevil Season 2

Hello All!
I am embarking on an adventure to create a bad-ass female version of Jon Bernthal Punisher from season 2 of Daredevil. I've been a big fan of Punisher ever since the Tom Jane version back in the day, so I'm thrilled to do this one.
Here's my checklist:
- Vest
- Black long sleeve shirt
- Tactical belt and two drop-leg holsters
- Ripped black jeans
- Black tactical style boots
- Face cut
And I've got a black rifle back scabbard, but I'm really debating because the back of the vest I have is so cool, I kind of don't want to cover it up. (thoughts?)
And (funny enough for a Punisher) nooooooooooo guns. Because our comicons up here in Alberta are LAME and don't allow anything that even looks like a black stick into the con.
(and thank you to everyone who posted Bernthal Punisher stuff prior - I'll be gratefully using the reference material, especially to whoever screen grabbed that awesome skull - I'll be making my stencil off that!)
So wish me luck!

I also play Polocrosse (think full contact lacrosse on horse back) - so I'm trying to make some of these items so that I can use them for that too.
Here is a picture of the original boots (they're crossover hiker/riding boots) and then after I dyed them. (used the black leather dye from my leatherwork on Thorin Oakenshield's bracers and then black boot polish) Since they were water-proof leather boots (damnit!!!) they didn't take quite as dark as I'd like, but they're not too bad. Got some black military para-cord to re-lace them with and I even made sure I looked up how Marine Scout Snipers lace their boots to make sure I got it accurate.

And I've just started on the vest - can you tell there's a con in a week? ; )
For the vest, it's not quite a photo-realistic choice, I found a used Tipperary Eventer Pro vest for $150 (normally $400), so again I can use it for polocrosse when I'm done. I hit myself in the chest with a hammer in the store and barely felt a thing. So a perfect choice for polocrosse, even if not 100% perfect for the Daredevil Punisher costume.
The only catch? It's bright RED!!!!!

I've got it dying in the sink right now. So here's hoping it comes out black!

Thoughts from the group. I'm not going with a trenchcoat - my options are either just keep the back of the vest visible or go with the rifle scabbard I got.
The back of the vest is pretty cool too (it's patterned just like the front)

(God I hope mine turns out this black - here's a shot from their website of what the back of the vest looks like - mine's in the dye bath or I'd take a picture)

or here is the scabbard

(again, not on me, just a shot from their website)

Thoughts on which would be cooler?

Almost done! It took a couple tries to get the red vest black enough (the first time with the double strength dye bath only got it to maroon)

But then I tried the Micheals' silk-floral spray paint in black on both the vest and the boots. Now they're proper black!

And here's the vest with the paint done!!!! Comicon here I come!

That looks seriously cool! And polocross sounds nuts, lol.

I've always loved the look of those vests! As for the scabbard, I'm of two minds on it. It's too bad the con won't allow weapons and it might look a little odd being empty, but you could use it as a backpack to carry water and whatnot so it'd be helpful.

I can't wait to see a finished pic of your costume! Enjoy the con!

Well! It's had it's first test run out at the Calgary Comicon! I'm overall quite happy with it. I ended up going with the scabbard, which ended up being awesome because then I had storage when I was walking around wrapping things around the 'rifle' barrel (I got a dollar store AR-15, cracked the handle off and replaced the barrel with a pool noodle to ensure I was 100% con-compliant).
Now I'm starting to plan a photo shoot so that I can get those really, really cool pix.
