Figured I'd make a thread, incase anyone close by is able to make it this year.
Myself being like 20 mins away from the Boise, Idaho location.
One of the big names this year (so far) is Ray Park, among others.
I've been in talk with the couple that run it, and they are letting me set up the Jurassic Park gate I had made for Halloween, that didn't end up working out. (Long story)
I plan to built the doors on it as well, once the weather gets nicer.
I read that all there vendor spots are taken up, so I'm actually very fortunate and thankful they are letting me put it there totally for free and meant for photo opportunitys.
Figured out that this thing had just barely enough room here in the family room, so decided to make the doors over the past week. Thankfully had just enough boxes that the old roommates gave me after moving out. Extras they didn't need and were brand new. Now just need a little fixing up in some areas, and then paint it once the weather gets a bit better.
They won't actually swing open, and come apart in 4 pieces.
Altogether, it's 13 big pieces, plus the boxes for the fire, and the letters.
Next to it will be a table with a diaroma of the T-rex breaking out.
May can't get here fast enough.
Got about a week and a half...gate is totally finished, along with the table display, minus a few things to finish on site. Will definitely add a ton of photos afterwards.
Not to scale, and the T-rex is way to small, but I think everyone will get the idea.
Absolutely awesome day. Got to meet a lot of people, take pictures for a ton of families, and just see everyone having a great time.
Was raining most the day, but sure didn't stop all the crowd from coming in.
My brother and I got a pic with Godzilla.
Sniped a pic of Ray Park, in the gray shirt.
$80 for a picture with him OR an autograph....or way more for both.
I chose my zoomed in sneak attack pic.
That was a fun, yet tiring weekend. Got to meet a lot of people.
Also had the event coordinators from the Magic Valley Comic Con in Twin Falls, Idaho (about 2 hours away) come and ask if there is a way we could work out bringing my gate to their event this September.
Guess we'll see if that works out or not.
Also have an idea for this one next year...if it works out....The Battle of Hoth.
A table using some of the AT-AT walkers I have as a display, and perhaps making the head and front legs, and finding a way to have it like the rest of the body is in the wall (to save time and space)
Make it 10 or more feet tall, and something similar to the Star Tours one, just smaller.
