hi, all

i wanted to share this with you
so there is a place in the south west of england called Cornwall, which is where i reside, its very nice, lots of nice beaches, quaint seaside towns and amazing scenery,
and this year was Geekfest 7

a cool event, which includes cosplay, props, special guests & many live events, it may not be SDCC but its a lot of fun, and every year its getting bigger and better
its in a place called heartlands which is a former mine works which also showcases some of our rich mining heritage cornwall is world renowned for,

usually its a 2 day thing, but this year was a 3 day event which included the bank holiday which was great, of which i went on the latter 2 days
this was my second time going, and of course i had to dress up,
i went as agent 47 from hitman,
it took around 40hrs to 3dprint my guns, and days of finishing but it was worth it, and was great taking photos with everyone

these were the special guests, so cool to meet and talk too

Andy Beckwith
Clem So
Julien Seager
Nathan Pegler
Willie Coppen
Lee Bradley

also great talking to ben from studio-props

so here are the pictures, hope you like

Thanks for posting those!!

It's a very impressive Convention.

I'm in Southern California, we're spoiled a bit here. Until COVID, which the Con circuit hasn't yet quite recovered from, we had the San Diego Comic Con, the Los Angeles Comic Con, the Long Beach Comic Con, Long Beach Comic Expo, the Los Angeles Anime Expo, Anime Los Angeles, the Ontario Comic Con, the Pasadena Comic Con, and Monsterpalooza (a wonderful outlier sort of Con unlike any other).

And this is just in the southern quarter of the state- there are various other Cons spread across the northern bits.

Cornwall may seem an off-the-beaten-track sort of place, yet the photos you post show an exceptionally high level of cosplay and exhibits, easily as good as anything here.

The link doesn't work. Is the event in Truro?

My grandmother's family is from Tywardreath, which I've visited. She was a first-generation American, her parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles all moved to West Virginia from Cornwall. Tea-totalling Methodists all!

thanks for the reply, and if i can describe Cornwall to anyone is that it is a bit rural to say the least, as the whole county is basicly small coastal towns, interspersed with fields, there is only one small city called truro, which is only really a largeish town, there are a few other cosplay events local, this event was in a town called camborne, there is one in truro ive yet to attend, maybe one day i'll get to the london con, or the SDCC, :)

and of course, no british person can go anywhere without tea,

Oh I think you must get to the London Con!

Ah the SDCC!! Though it's a "local" Con for me, being here within Southern California (the drive being the same as Truro to Exeter) this year is the first time I'll attend all four days of SDCC. Every year I wait hopefully for hours online only to miss out on getting a badge. (There's a lottery for badges. There's even a lottery for a parking space for your car!) A friend who has a Pro Badge is getting a Guest Badge for me.

Speaking of drives, we in the American West are often undaunted by drives which appear extraordinary for those in Britain.

For example I've twice driven to the Salt Lake City (Utah) comic-con ("FanX") the drive being almost exactly the same as Truro to Inverness.

I've thrice driven to the Phoenix (Arizona) Comic Con ("Phoenix Fan Fusion") the drive being a bit further than Truro to Liverpool. Actually I have a sister in Phoenix and in 2024 I've already driven there three times.

The most extreme I suppose when I drove to the Seattle (Washington State) comic con ("Emerald City Comic Con") which just a bit further than you driving to Poznan, Poland. My son attended university in Washington State and I made that drive a few times then.
