Gears of War Suits and Props--any being done, WIP's, etc?

Ok, I know people have done Halo suits and Republic Commando suits and props. Anyone thought of doing anything related to Gears of War? There's a wealth of cool suits and props in that game.

I was actually wondering if anyone was up to tackling the cog suits either... I'd love to see anything pertaining to such.

I'm actually thinking about trying my hand at sculpting a Locust bust. Just not sure which head I like the best--the soldier, the grenadier, the berserker, or the General himself.

The Berserker..she is freakin ugly..if you have the Destroyed Beauty book that came in the tin case there is a really good shot of her head there.

Now this is a thread I'll be watching with great interest... We actually had a lifesized prototype made but without many of the details. I'm using it to copy for reference and will make a more detailed version soon.

A really good reference is the art book that came with the Brady Games Gears of War Strategy Guide (8x10") TONS of stuff in there. I spent 2 months packing as much artwork into it as I could.

Actually, I don't have that book. I just recently got the 360 and only played and beat GoW last week. I'm probably getting ready to play back through, though

I bought that exclusive pack with the 2 books in it, just for reference pics. You did the artwork for the concepts?

I designed the layout and look of the book using art from the 3 years of making Gears. I am also the HUD and UI designer on the game.

Just an FYI, the thread Hydra pointed to has a link by Ramiel to a concept art forum (LInk copied here: Gears concept art )

Great pictures there of the armor and lots of the gear, as posted by the artist who created them. Might be some good reference material for projects.

Shannon and I keep looking at the suits during the cut scenes, then looking in the direction of the garage we're slowly turning into a workshop....

They would be sharp....but damn, is it just me, or are are those guys frickin huge? I keep looking to see if it's the armor making them big, but it looks like it's just them....

While I don't have a 360 game system...the GoW commercial with the guy running down the street in the rain and leaping through a window only to encounter the giant spider. did get my attention. great commercial spot. cool stuff.

OK, the search feature works. No harm in giving this thread a little bump.

I don't have an Xbox 360, so I haven't seen the game. I have seen The Art of Gears, and that got me interested in doing one of these suits. I must admit though, I don't know the difference between the characters, and it would be nice if someone could post some reference material.

I think the armor is doable, but not simple. The armor would need to be vacu-formed in several pieces, and that chest piece looks like it has a lot of padding underneath.

I thought those guys had a really bad rep with their Halo suits? If memory serves people were getting really shoddy pieces from them. I could be mistaken though.

nope your right Jason, Nightmares/Sid was handing out shoddy halo armor on the last few batches they did.

I got stuck with these guys in an elevator at DC. Was not impressed with them(personally). Suits look okay I guess.

I've been wanting to build one of these suits from the first time I laid eyes on it! If there's anyone in the Greensboro, Raleigh, Durham area in NC that's wants to work on these, let me know!!
