G.I. Joe: Retaliation (Post-release)

Just got back from Retaliation and LOVED IT!
As much as I enjoyed the first one, cheese and all...this was an entirely different movie and for me, one heck of a great ride.

I found that the costumes to be even more spectacular seen on the big screen and honestly I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

Snake Eyes' new costume couldn't be any more perfect. What a great redesign...lots to love there, not to mention Storm Shadow's outfit too. Great seeing them together on the big screen again. Now I think I want to be Snake Eyes because, well...because he's just so darn cool!
:)

Cobra Commander's Helmet, Firefly's jacket...a certain Long Red Dress...:angel...heck I could go on and on about the costume design alone.:thumbsup

Picked up the 3D Bluray today.

First thing I did was get online and order the dog tags, haha.
Which you get to select a "Call Sign". You can choose from the likes of: Duke, Roadblock, Snake Eyes, Flint, etc. or you can customize it with your own "call sign".
You put in your Name, DOB, Blood type and finally your Rank, which you can choose from: Private, Specialist, Captain, Sergeant, Major, etc, or custom rank.

Anyway, I'm checking out the bonus material right now and looking at the deleted scenes there is one in particular (Arlington cemetery) that is pretty powerful and not sure why they didn't include it.

But, I am looking forward to watching it on my TV in 3D since I seem to get a better effect rather than in the theater.

Yo JOE! ;)

I made a very awkward choice yesterday when I was over at Best Buy. I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the "Extended Action Cut" of the film. Even though I hated the first movie, the things I've heard about Retaliation appealed my curiosity. So plugging the BluRay in, I found myself actually enjoying the film. When I looked up what the difference was between this version and the theatrical version, I was glad I picked up this Extended Cut since a lot of the new scenes are mostly character focused instead of more action/blood (though you do get a bit of that).

G.I. Joe Comparisons

Overall, WAY BETTER than the first one and I'm glad I waited for the extended cut to see it.

Well dang...looks like im gonna have to bite the bullet and purchase the Extended Cut too. I guess I should have researched the different options out there first. I bought mine at Target, which just happened to be right next door to a Best Buy, hahah

EDIT:
Picked up the Extended Action Cut Bluray last night and watched it.

It is definitely much more a complete film with the added scenes. Especially the added scenes with Jinx and Snake Eyes you get to see the dynamic of their relationship develop.

Finally saw this.

The consensus seems to be that the first movie is garbage, and that this one is much better.

I did see more references to the toys in this movie, but overall, I must say I prefer the first one. I must be one of the ten people who liked it. I purchased it on blu-ray. This one was, ok, but I don't feel the need to ever watch it again.

Watched this last night. Glad that I (1) didn't see it in the theater and (2) didn't pay to see it.

What a horrible piece of garbage. The best part of this movie was that <spoiler>Channing Tatum got blown up fairly early into the movie</spoiler>. He was one of the reasons the first one was so horrible and why Hollywood really needs to re-evaluate its prerequisites for action star material.

I did like the Joe's body armor.
I hated that they turned Firefly into someone from Sons of Guns... real tree camo and gatorskin vest. Just horrible He was always my favorite character on the cartoon. Pretty sure I'd remember if he was Louisianna trailer trash. And his firefly bombs were just stupid.
Bruce Willis... embarassingly old.
I hate when they put these people in military dress uniforms, as they make such a mess of them. Not to mention still sporting facial hair while in uniform.
This movie was all over the place and not in a good way.
I might watch it again some day when I need nothign but a gun fix, because this definitely delivered on that. I would gladly model my next house after Willis' with all the hidden gun stuff.
Overall, this movie was a joke... with a very weak punchline.

Watched it online a week ago. Better than the first, but nothing special, really. I didn't care much one way or the other about it, and was kinda tuned out while watching. I thought it was pretty mediocre in and of itself, but considerably better than the first (which SUCKED).
