My 501st (Bast Alpha) garrison pitched in and we built a full size (Modified Design) sand skiff based off the ones in ROTJ as a parade float for Mardi Gras here in New Orleans. This has been in several parades. The design is a cross between the Sail Barge and a sand skiff. The design had to modified for praciticality of being in a Mardi Gras parade. It is constructed on a auto-steer float chassis. It is made of treated wood with a 4 - 6 dense stryofoam skin which was plastered and painted. These pics are before any 501st markings were applied and a back door was added and lexan was installed to prevent hands and arms reaching through the rails.

This was built in about 3 weekends with 4 of us helping. The most credit goes to my brother in law as he is a commerical contractor and used to built floats in his early career. He built 95% of it with out any plans, we just showed him a several of pics for ROTJ. We did exactly as he told us and he left the painting to us.:lol
He really got into building it (He is not a Star Wars fan) and wanted it to be as accurate as it practically be.
He wanted to add the vanes at the rear. But, we thought it might be a hazard that could hurt someone not paying attention.
We think he did a pretty job.
