Well, I am 99.9% sure that the Goonies Map I handdrew and posted in post #683 the Free Paper Props thread:
http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=789&highlight=goonies&page=69

has been duped and is now on Ebay:

Dunno if I should be ticked or flattered.
If I am wrong in my suspicion, please set me straight.
Mods, if I can't post the live auction, feel free to correct.

IIRC Degaf...Whiteboy is known for ripping off the artists on this board by selling their work as his own. The curse of generosity, I guess :\

I believe he's also done it to juno as well recently....

Seriously stinks. I had a piece ripped off not too long ago as well, by someone I thought I trusted, and I know I was not happy about it.

Ebay greedy MF....and it ruins it for the ones that want them here on the RPF, i.e. Darth pulled is skull Island map because of it....of course I got here too late...:cry shame people have to take a free ride off of other peoples work

Sorry that you were copied by this creep.

A thought I had was for someone to post an auction with an identical title and text... except to say that they could get it free on RPF or from you - could even mention that it is the original which this guy copied and selling for insane prices and link to his username... that would seriously kill his sales on his stolen maps. Though, I know it sux to have to do that to bring to people's attention that he's a recaster and copier of other people's work.

People have been doing this for years, if someone sees a chance to make money...they think no honor amongst thieves and toss someonelses hard work on ebay.:rolleyes

I agree with you guys, it's so friggin cheap to steal other peoples hard work and sell it for sky high prices on eBay, it happened to me, something i made a long time ago in paint, it was a Cafe 80's Menu. I made it before I heard of Photoshop and stuff, and to be honet it was bad, and i still can't belive that it got stolen, that's just stupid.
And try to contact the bidders saying were they can get it for free.

No shock.
Although I would never condon the behavior, it doesn't suprise me, and should not shock anyone. With the amount of "real" crime in the world I would be more suprise if stuff like this did not happen.
Is someone who sells something like a printed/laminated/with badge clip ID on ebay being paid for the design or the work, or both? If the seller was to sell an ID staing that they didn't design the badge but you were paying for the printing, laminating, etc. would that make it better? I suppose not, I just never thought about it that way before. Although if they took something I gave for free, produced it, and finished it, then sold it, I could not really complain, as they did the work as well. It's just a bad partnership, but they did add something before selling. It's not like they are selling the jpg file and you have to print it yourself. I know that is a fine-line difference, but it does matter to me. I'm not saying it is right, just stating the thoughts I have had on the subject.
There are plenty of folks who would ather pay a few bucks even if they know the file was free just to avoid figuring out the best paper, having a good printer, and getting it right. (I still buy books even if I can legally download them for free, to avoid the hassle of printing myself) Heck I have saved every free paper prop I have ever found online, and printed only a handfull. In most cases I end up buying (others versions - not ripped off ones) of ID's and such just because I can't get them to print right (or 2 sided, or laminated, etc, etc). So there is a market - although ID's and such tend to be way over priced. Either kind folks give them away for free on threads like the one here on the RPF, or the make them for about 10 cents in bulk and charge $20 a peice.
I suppose all I can do is not overpay to the folks selling there own stuff, keep avoiding the re-selling of others work, and just keep downloading and storing them for printing 7 use later. :)

Yeah, this guy also ripped me off when I bought a Jurrasic Park map outside of Ebay from him. He said he sent it but I never got it. Scumbag!!!

Would not recommend that at all. If one of the bidders notifies the seller he can report you to Ebay. Stupid Ebay rule but there it is...

Chad, sorry to see your great work stolen. Stuff like this is what causes some great work to never see the light of day. Sad...

It looks like yours kid. If I recall there was a guy here who made a Raiders of the Lost Ark map and somehow copyrighted it and was able to Vero people on Ebay. He may even be in that very same thread you referenced.

Well as far I remember that map was non-canon, and it wasn't that screen-accurate so he could get a copyrigth on it. But I'm not sure :wacko

He might have copied parts of your map but I see some differences too.

Well, I was giving the benefit of doubt, until I made an overlay of his map against my master file.
Now, I made the thing.....this is the image I used as my basis as it was right off the Internet:
goon.jpg

I blew it up to the porportions I wanted...not based on any other prop maps, nor the real deal.

I then hand drew it, making my own changes...
here is an overlay of his ebay auction image and my master file I had posted in the archived thread.
Keeping in mind his photo is of a folded map and my layout isn't quite right....
but you see from all the circled red where I am heading with this claim...

There is no doubt it is an exact copy. I doubt he would have taken the time to meticulously hand draw each and every perk.

What I decided to do is sell my copied item at the same time, and I state that my copied work is being sold on eBay. I then block anyone that bids on his map from buying from me.

Ebay replied to my complaint. They provided me a link to download a .PDF to detail my complaint. I have filled it out and faxed it to their VeRo department.
I have emailed this jerk thru the auction and informed him of my intentions.
I have also found three other auctions in the last 30 days where he has sold copies of my map...in which, I also notified eBay and will notifiy VeRo once they get back to me.
